it should have been on mayhem. but id omit a few songs off mayhem i dont like and totally change the tracklisting

1. Disease
2. Abracadabra
3. Garden Of Eden
4. Vanish Into You
5. Killah
6. The Dead Dance
7.  Zombieboy
8. LoveDrug
9. Happy Mistake
10. Perfect Celebrity
11. The Beast
12. How Bad Do U Want Me
13. Die With A Smile

this is how i listen to it LOL

The original tracklisting has grown on me since I started listening to DJ Liiam's (whose name here I forget omg) nonstop version BUT Happy Mistake after LoveDrug is

I'm tempted to try and make a version of LoveDrug that winds down at the end for a smoother transition into a ballad

HM doesn't fit the Mayhem theme at all. Sonically, sure, but other than that it would have no place on the record.

It's funny how I'd say the exact opposite of this :icant:

Wasn’t it written for Chromatica?

It was and thank god it didn't make the album :bradley:

They took a beautiful ballad (1000 Doves) and made it a knock off Cher track, sucked all the life out of one of her most promising demos (Free Woman), removed great bridges from a couple other songs (911, Babylon), I SHUDDER to think what Bloodclot would have turned Happy Mistake into.

The mistake was not making it a single... :traumatica:

Tbh, she should've shot a couple of videos for Harlequin... The Joker, Happy Mistake and an Anastasia ballroom inspired Folie à Deux music video. The original songs deserved way better :messga: She had Folie à Deux ready when they shot the movie so she could've used the movie sets to shoot a MV :selena: and they shot a spot in the Louvre so she could've shot a MV for The Joker there too :neyde:

I know it was a side project but come on, she released her best jazz project and they did nothing for it (at least they should've tried to safe the music from the Joker 2 backlash). I hope we get the Harlequin show

the main thing that bothers me about the tracklisting is how each genre is clumped together,,,, not very MAYHEM its actually very cohesive lol..

I kinda love the contrast bc lovedrug is lyrically kinda the same depressing vibe as happy mistake its like a comedown lol

See I'm the opposite way around, I don't think it fits sonically but lyrically and thematically I think it fits.

Lyrically it feels like a sister of Perfect Celebrity/The Beast/HBDUWM with the reflections on her fame and the disconnect between Gaga & Stefani.

Hm. I feel the fact that it isn't all that polished in her vocal delivery (eventho everything she does is a deliberate choice, e.g. the voice cracking and so on) fits Mayhem perfectly, the grunge of it all thats everywhere on the record and her live renditions of certain songs, plus the production it self, which gets a little spooky towards the outro. Lyrically I feel that the person on HM ist extremely broken and I just don't think thats the same point from where Mayhem is written, eventho she reflects on darker times, Mayhem more so feels as a reflection in a state of peace, sure, angry at times (PC), but not still being in a fight for life.. idk, pretty hungover from Halloween, maybe i'm reading too much into it.

Its perhaps why Happy Mistake worked as a prelude to Mayhem, it represents her before she made peace with the Mayhem.

Die With A Smile should have been the Joker album single. And Happy Mistake should have been on Mayham.

It was (the sheets leaked) even the name fits.

they scrapped that idea after the massive flop.

Happy Mistake is great but I see why she left it off the album. It feels way too on-the-nose with the concept of Mayhem, broken mirrors, etc. It would also really bring down the mood towards the end of the album where she tries to warm things up after the heaviness from Disease/Debra/PC/VIY/Killa/Zombie etc.

Regardless, it'd take it over BOG/Don't Call Tonight for sure.

Harlequin felt like a passion project, if someone missed Happy Mistake bc they didn’t give it a listen that’s on them and maybe that song isn’t FOR them? Harlequin is one of my favorite Gaga projects but it makes sense it didn’t get a full rollout like all her other albums (I would love to see that live release performance though.)

I think they're talking about the FYC Grammy campaign boxsets they made for DWAS. They had piano sheets or something like that, maybe it was a songbook, I don't remember but the title in the sheets was 'Die With A Smile - from Joker: Folie à Deux' or something similar, but it mentioned the film.

I actually think the song was meant for the film but at some point they realized it wasn't that good or maybe Gaga's team wasn't happy with the product and decided not to included and just released it as a single that was then added to MAYHEM. I always thought DWAS fits better in Harlequin than it does in MAYHEM

And I think we all knew Joker 2 was gonna flop hard as soon as we read the reviews... They probably knew a couple of months prior + I'm sure they knew about the drama around the film, the constant changes in the script while they were shooting and the director not wanting to do test screenings :traumatica: A whole mess
