Monsterclaw 509
I’m trying to get through the show and Im very conflicted - like i get it is trying to show how he influenced american psyche and horror movies in general, i get that they are trying to focus on his shizophrenia and kind of show how his psyche might have worked but its so schlocky, so unrealistic and its blurring the lines of what actually happened vs pure fiction that’s it borderline offensive. Especially, in today’s climate when people’s media literacy is at an all-time low and many may think that all the things portrayed in the show are facts. And i know its Ryan Murphy and i know he’s style over substance but when you do a true-crime show shouldnt it be at least somewhat accurate? let me know what you think edit: also if i were bernice’s worden family i would sue the **** out of netflix Edited 3 hours ago by Monsterclaw
JustAnotherGayASMR 130
I get where you're coming from but I don't see much harm in it. "True story" esque pieces are always bound to make errors. I think the parts that stray from stone cold facts are there to help move the story along or just add creative elements. A little like how in Marry the night Gaga states how she fills in all the ugly holes to make them beautiful again. Ryan Murphy & Ian Brennan do extensive research into the real life stories. While there are segments that are dramatised, a majority of it is factual. Sure there are people who will take everything in there as gospel but I think for many it creates discussion around hard hitting topics & then gives them the opportunity to form their own opinions not just on Ed Gein but on mental health, abuse, war, etc. I myself tend to get really into these shows & it will send me down a rabbit hole to learn more. For example I started looking for Ed Gein's real voice & I watched documentaries on the cases featured. I personally think the series was brilliant in the most twisted way.
