I don't think that's an edited photo. It looks like Nicole and that model were just at the same location.

This model has the same nails, hairstyle, earrings, and even mole on her neck (that real Nicole doesn't have)

Oh right, that's a different image to the one you originally shared. I'm still not convinced it's an edit though. It would be a really strange thing to do. It's not as though Nicole and the model are posed in the same way either; it would be a big and quite sophisticated photoshop job to take that model's hand for example and have it hold Nicole's coat, like in the picture.

Anyway, all of this feels as though I'm defending Nicole Scherzinger, lol, which I don't really want to do, given I don't know enough about her. I'm just genuinely unsure about the claim that photo is fake.

I don't deny any of that at all. I am not a Christian and don't align myself to any religion. However, Christianity is not the only religion that has harmed gay people. Islam is traditionally (and perhaps more) critical of homosexuality, for example. I asked GPT to compare the religions and it concluded with this summary:

In summary

Institutionally: Christianity overall tends to have more established and visible LGBTQ+-affirming branches and churches.

Culturally: Acceptance among Muslims is fast growing but remains more limited and often more controversial within Islamic contexts.

So I think my point stands. If there were equivalent comments towards Islam on here, I feel it would be viewed as unacceptable (rightly). So I don't understand why it is acceptable for one religion but not another.

Very few people here are going to speak up on Islam’s persecution of gays because it’s not politically correct (yet) as it’s a right-wing talking point. The right hates Islam so we have to be pro-Islam. That kind of thing. It doesn’t make any sense but that’s how our culture wars work. :laughga:

Christianity, Islam and Judaism. They are same problematic religion just with different names. All of them deserve to be criticized.

I'm not a Christian but I'm kind of shocked by the flagrant criticism and mocking of it in this thread. I don't think any of you would so openly belittle any other religion on here - so why is it acceptable, and not ban-worthy, to talk about Christianity in this way? One for the mods, I guess?

No religion should be free of criticism and derision.

So long as it is not used as a tool of persecution, criticism and derision of ideas is part of a free society.

Hmm, I think we criticize everything here. I'm online every day and I've read all sorts of things 😂

Fed up with religion, with people who believe in God and in rules laid down by that God. They are absolutely entitled to believe in that stuff, but ..... they're wrong, and I'm fed up with it, and I'll go to my grave being fed up with it because it will definitely outlast me.

The current absurdity in the US wouldn't be happening if it wasn't for religion. Trump isn't religious at all, he's just nuts, a megalomaniac, but some of the other key players, e.g. Johnson, Vought, do what they do, and get the strength to do what they do, because of and from their religious faith. I think that they really, truly believe that what they are doing is right .... I'm fed up with it.

I'm fine with criticism about any religion from LGBTQ+ about LGBTQ+ issues, we're the victim of these institutions, to expect us to be nice to them is delusional.

Also, Islam is the second biggest religion in the world, it might be a minority in the US, but in the rest of the world it's either the majority (Muslim countries) or the 2nd biggest after Christianity (European countries), I find it idiotic to even have the idea that it's not politically correct to criticize it and it should be "protected" from criticism.

Islamophobia exists, just like Chrstianphobia exists from Muslims and Jews and Antisemitism from Christians and Mulims.. so let them hoes fight for all I care.

That's a refreshing take and one I am glad to read :)

Personally, I would not use the mocking language about any religion expressed earlier on in this thread. But I'm glad that such language could be expressed against any religion and it not face consequence.

The problem is Islamophobia is usually tied in with racism against Arab people and the two things have lowkey become the same fight in the West. I'm certainly not fighting for acceptance of Islam any day of the week but tolerance for people from the Middle East has become intertwined with it, unfortunately.

"Christianphobia" isn't a thing. Christians aren't marginalized in the slightest anywhere in the world that I know of aside from tiny pocket communities where their oppressors are other religious people.

But yes, in all fairness, @OMonster, be it Christians bombing abortion clinics and stripping women and minorities of our rights, Muslims throwing gays off of roof tops and terrorizing their enemies, or Jews carpet bombing neighborhoods in Gaza, ALL religions are death cults rife with delusion, intolerance, paranoia, and hatred.

As I've said before, my only solace is that religion is dying out with every generation and some day humanity will leave the superstitions, deities, and whack ass traditions in the garbage bin of the past where they belong in favor of being grounded in reality :vegas:

Maybe then our species can make some actual progress without some old time thumper saying it hurts their feefees that we're curing cancer and defying their god's will or whatever.

North Korea, Somalia, Pakistan, Nigeria, Eritrea, just to name a few.

I think the first problem is to view everything around us in a western eye, it makes us ignore the problems in other places in the world where innocent people, that unfortunately for them, born Christians, are been killed for that.

Well we can say the same about Jews, but they don't get the luxury to be defended all the time, actually they are been blamed anyway and "deserve it" while been ignored that they are actually a minority, 14 million people all over the world, and the actions of Israel is just an excuse and irrelevant.

While for example, when ISIS did the terror attacks, every sane person defended Muslims, so this hypocrisy is as bigot as racist Christians hating on Muslims.

I'm just done tolerating anybody honestly, there's no innocent soul out there. we're all pieces of sh-t :Cautious:
