Lizzo being sued for allegedly ripping off another artist's song for one of her latest tracks that blew up on social media.

According to a new lawsuit,  the GRC Trust is going after Lizzo and her label, Atlantic Records, claiming the singer sampled and copied parts of an original composition, "Win or Lose (We Tried)" it owns without permission.

GRC claims Lizzo's 2025 release "I'm Goin' In Till October," also known as "Good Jeans," dropped on TikTok earlier this year and they claim lifts both instrumental and vocal elements from their copyrighted work. Representatives for Lizzo acknowledge it.

Lizzo did not obtain authorization from GRC to use the Composition in the Infringing Work and continues to exploit the Infringing Work for commercial gain, violating GRC’s rights in the Composition.

A rep for Lizzo tells TMZ ... "We are surprised that The GRC Trust filed this lawsuit. To be clear, the song has never been commercially released or monetized, and no decision has been made at this time regarding any future commercial release of the song."

The lawsuit goes on to claim the parties tried to reach a deal to sample the work but never reached an agreement.

The trust is suing Lizzo and her label for copyright infringement, saying they knowingly used the composition for commercial gain without paying for a license. The trust wants damages and an injunction blocking the exploitation of its song.

This opens up an interesting legal avenue for copyright disputes if successful.
It would effectively allow anyone in a position to monetarily benefit from tiktoks to be sued for using copyrighted sounds without permission of the copyrighter.

As much as the song is boring anyway, I hate that people just want money for everything nowadays like… we’ll legit end up in a world where you run out of chords, samples etc and artists are just getting greedier ESPECIALLY when it’s artists bigger than them

Like didnt Gaga get sued for a CHORD PROGRESSION nnn

I always assumed that was the law anyway but the simpler route like with youtube is the copyright holder just gets the ad revenue instead of the person who posted it, rather than going down the legal route
