Doesn't she talk sh*t about everyone? That makes her opinion irrelevant imo. Especially when she's objectively wrong 'cause Gaga is one of the most substantive artists of the last few decades.

Just classic insecurity. Grace has always been like this. She was probably always bitter that her songs never broke through to become major league hits that are remembered for decades like her peers did. To be honest, I'd never even heard of her until she talked about Gaga. I didn't realise she was the one in that one legged microphone pose and certainly never knew any of her songs. She'd only just come back with her first album in 19 years when Gaga came on the scene as well and was probably feeling like she'd been forgotten and times had changed. So, to see a pop star achieving hits of a level that she never had and doing it with an avant garde style that she had once pioneered, well, it was just too much.

I notice that, as much as Gaga has always been beloved by many artists, there were more than a few who dissed her at the start and doubted her abilities. I think it's because they naively thought that she wouldn't be around for long and didn't see her as a longtime threat. And were getting an ego boost over the idea that in the future, when she was a has-been and people reflected on her, they could always say they called it from day one. Now they all look like fools and have kept her name out their mouths ever since or sheepishly backtracked.

I don't know that it's been confirmed whether they did or didn't meet at some point 'cause there's a rumor that they had a song called "Pictures" that was being written and Gaga would perform it...but MJ absolutely saw her for the icon she is regardless.

He was working with RedOne. He showed MJ Poker Face and MJ said it was "written by a genius". 

And when MJ, Travis Payne, and the rest of the crew were discussing personnel for the TII residency, Michael mentioned Gaga as both an opener and someone he wanted to perform with during the show. Payne was like "whaaa?" And Mike said "Watch her. She's next." As in, "she's the next huge superstar".

I feel nothng tbh, i mean she is an Icon and a legend and i love some of the things that she's done, but she can still be wrong about Gaga and about many things, she ain't perfect of course, i think she just misread her personality, we all know that at that time during BTW and ARTPOP she was talking a lot about being an empty vessel that acts as a conduit to a spiritual connection to the fans and what her community needs, it all came from a place of humility, as she was very aware of who she was, and letting herself inflate her own ego and give herlself too much credit at that level of fame is a dangerous zone, and with such an idol for her like Grace Jones, she might've been specially humbled by and and she could've mistook that vulnerability as a weakness. But we all know that Gaga has a very strong sense of self and a steady artistic vision that rarely gets compromised, she ain't the first part of an industry puppet, specially out of contemporary pop artists, i would say she has the strongest personality hands down.

cuz she is very parasocial with her idols hahah, and she is graceful eventho tho they are not the most fond of her, she also said that bowie was a friend bf she met him too xd

Yeah… part of me wanted to add

”maybe she lives between fantasy and reality when it comes her interactions with her idols”

to my original comment, but I felt that it would have sounded too shady. I always thought that Bowie was pretty neutral when it came to Gaga, including that letter that he sent her where he said that he couldn’t hang out with her.

I'm with the majority.

While I adore Grace Jones for her uniqueness and artistry, there's no denying she is a massive bitch.

She's one of the OG supermodels before the 90s peak of Supermodel culture and is the blueprint for the likes of Naomi Campbell. So she came up through a cutthroat scene. 

But I can kind of understand her not fully getting Gaga back in the day and I imagine a lot of what Gaga was doing image wise which was borrowing from the art scene Grace Jones actually lived through and was part of probably did feel a bit like cosplay.

It would have been kinda wild to see what MJ and RedOne concocted bc as we know RedOne is someone who works best with someone who has a real vision and MJ reeeeaally did. But as for them meeting, I recall Gaga having said in the past that they never got to meet
