TheARTPOPball 759 Posted yesterday at 03:48 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:48 AM (edited) Gaga is the obvious choice but i can think of so many Album of the Year nominees who deserved the win over who actually won. In my opinion at least. Edited yesterday at 05:42 AM by TheARTPOPball

Not that i think shes incapable, just that i think she has reached a new peak and im not sure if its gonna go up or down after this with the GP. Not that she needs the award, but she definitely deserves it.

However, I think both Kendrick and Bad Bunny are helped by their very high profile Super Bowl performances. And Bad Bunny, in particular, will no doubt have a ton of press in the months of voting. I think the more he becomes and emblem of protest, the stronger his chances become. Gaga is a career artist at her peak and there's a strong case for that. But I do think Bad Bunny will eclipse the media conversation and probably win in the end. Voting begins in December right in the middle of holiday season and the music freeze. The Super Bowl press won’t take place at that time but rather later AND Bad Bunny has a world tour starting in November all through December. He won’t have much press tbh

It might be more of a full circle thing tovhim/his team I think people are severely overestimating Bad Bunny. Let me remind everyone that only 10% of the voting members identify and belong to the Latin genre. His album is huge outside of the US, but not many voters actually belong to the group the album strikes the most. In any other year I’d say he has it in lock, but on a year with Kendrick and Gaga, he has tough competitors. Also, his Super Bowl performance takes place well after voting, so it won’t influence voters. And his world tour (which excludes the US), starts in late November and all through December. So I don’t think he will have time to campaign in the critical dates (from November 7 to December 15). I think much of Bad Bunny’s chances will fall on the political landscape. If immigration continues to be a protagonist issue maybe he’s got it. I’f the public is more interested in something else he won’t Edited yesterday at 09:28 AM by andy232000
andy232000 12,232 Posted yesterday at 09:30 AM Share Posted yesterday at 09:30 AM These predictions mean nothing but they certainly don’t hurt. They propel the idea that Gaga deserves this. And for people thinking “oh everyone will vote for Gaga so I’ll vote for someone else to be different”, that probably isn’t as big enough to upset the people who will vote for her. Herd mentality is stronger. Now, the only true prediction we should care about is The Grammy Guru. Their experts have nailed like 5/8 times the AOTY winner. I think Variety is also the other media outlet that is decent at predicting. But RS, Pitchfork, Billboard have a worse track record. So don’t get hyped just cause RS is predicting Mayhem now. Let’s wait until The Grammy Guru takes a look
Sneaky Oliver 22,254 Posted yesterday at 01:10 PM Share Posted yesterday at 01:10 PM I think Gaga truly deserves it, I’m trying to have a completely unbiased opinion on this but she was able to put out a record that was such a huge success at this point of her career which many people had thought it was impossible for her to do while also referencing her own past works and defining her legacy in the music industry I mean this is such an unique moment for an artist, receiving the biggest award of music in this very moment feels so right
Mr S 8,702
It'll be an interesting battle as it's basically a 3 headed race. Bad Bunny obviously has the political aspect and his win would be a big F U to ICE. Kendrick Lamar is a rap artist and while it's not his best work, he is overdue. Gaga has reaches legend status with this era and is too overdue. What I love about this race is that none of these albums are the safe choice. They're all unconventional in their own ways. The downside of that, is when the front runners are polarizing, a safe under the radar album can pull through due to vote splitting. That would be someone like Elton/Brandi

GNX, DTMF, and Mayhem are truly great pieces of work that deserve recognition for their quality and cultural impact. I obviously want Gaga to win the award cause she’s my no.1 favorite artist, but I’ll be happy if either Kendrick or Benito get it. I just hope Sabrina or someone less deserving of it don’t end up getting it
