NUTELLA 12,468 Posted yesterday at 02:18 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:18 AM I enjoyed the first few books. The 2004 movie is a total comfort watch. It really holds up; good pacing, beautiful cinematography & great score I've tried to watch the netflix series a few times but I hate Neil Patrick Harris so I keep abandoning it
Roughhouse Dandy 11,906 Posted yesterday at 02:24 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:24 AM (edited) Love. The book series and the companion pieces are top tier YA. The movie deserved a Harry Potter style franchise build out. The series is cute too I have the VFD ankle tattoo lol Edited yesterday at 02:27 AM by Roughhouse Dandy This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss. 1

Robo Ga 15,329 Posted yesterday at 02:29 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:29 AM Was absolutely obsessed with it as a kid, I remember laughing out loud at the clever writing. I was so excited every time I got my hands on the next book. Such a special experience reading those at around age 10-12. 🤖⚡️
gumzy3000 7,430 Posted yesterday at 02:39 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:39 AM One of my favourite books as a child. I really liked the movie and Netflix adaptation as well. Also, the gothic 1940s aesthetic was very cool and imaginative. I remember thinking about that a lot as I read the books. It was very unique. trolly troll troll

ABSOLUTELY. and read The End if you can (its one of the most superlative, a word which here means "lengthy and astonishing", in the series) Edited yesterday at 03:09 AM by zevthepaparazzo DON'T... PornoDanceFight 191 Posted yesterday at 04:34 AM Share Posted yesterday at 04:34 AM Now tell me why earlier this week I was doing a reddit deep dive into the contents of the sugar bowl… I loved and devoured these books as a kid. My mom passed away when I was young, so reading a book about similar children having experienced horrible things really helped with everything going on when I was younger. They were also funny, my introduction to gothic storytelling, and they helped expand my vocab knowledge and kept me up at night researching the various inside jokes and references. I think the show exists as the “definitive” representation, but the movie really nailed the themes and emotional beats of the books. The series kind of felt one note, while the books arguably got darker with each installment. I think my favorite is The Vile Village, but I also remember being particularly obsessed with The Wide Window.
