This reminds me of when Rep didn’t get nominated in the main categories, just Pop Vocal Album. :icant:

I still can't believe she recorded this, watched it and still thought it was a good idea to release it :icant:

She'll find a way to once again victimize herself by the poor reception of this  album and release another Reputation

Although if this means we get the Reputation vault tracks…I’m ok with it.

Considering all the songs on TLOASG sound like you could blend them into one and no one would notice, the 100 rating is complete insanity. Not trying to be a hater, but the album is really weak. If you enjoy it, good for you!

I think people should stop labeling others as haters just because they share their opinions. You shouldn't feel the need to explain you're about to give your opinion... I agree with you, if some like it, good for them but her last 3 albums were objectively mid at best... I'm still surprised she won AOTY for Midnights, like wtf? :awkney: 1989 and Folklore were well deserved but Midnights? Don't get me wrong, there are some good songs there and good lyrics but she wasn't bringing anything new to the table or something different from what she did already with Folklore or Evermore

What's crazy to me though is that most songs on Midnights, Lover and TTPD are just as bland and boring. Only the lyrics of TLOASG are very cringe on top of that. But only now the swifties wake up? :laughga:

I wonder if the "Chats & reacts" channel will post their reaction to this album. I'm sure you've seen them on youtube or tiktok, they're the swifties with irrationnal reactions

The Variety review has to be 10/10 Ragebait. :koons:

"Swift has never made two albums that sound alike, and that’s certainly the case with this nearly polar-opposite followup to her “Tortured” era. We like her when she’s mad (with apologies to the Incredible Hulk), and of course, she already proudly told us there’s nothing like a madwoman. But she also once told us, “Why be mad when you can be glad?" :icant:

"It’s too late for Swift to have a “song of the summer,” but this feels like the Album of the Summer — the calendar be damned. It’s giddy, funny, touching, silly, haughty and moving in about equal measure, but most of all, it’s got a sunstruck kind of love that besottedly seeps through the orange LP grooves and might even make you believe in romance again, too. Bring your own SPF 50." :icant:

They gave it a 92/100 btw :rip:

:air:

If there is a pop star who will make me believe in romance again, it'll come from a mature mind like Lady Gaga or Adele. Women who have been through hardship and who actually contemplate without resentment upon the vulnerability of being resilient and real in the face of their partners.

Not 'don't make it awkward in second period'. 'It's actually romantic you think about me or whatever'

rs giving this a 100 but mayhem an 80

in all fairness i believe it's a star score at RS, so it was probably 5 star vs 4 stars. still wild, but it's not as wild as a 20 point difference

good to know! but i guess what i mean is when they're writing with their star system they're seeing it as a 1pt difference, not a 20 point difference. metacritic is what converts those scores into a much more nuanced scale

Well, this was unexpected. I really didn't know what this album was going to sound like but it...wasn't this. Its title and various artworks are kinda baffling as it doesn't represent the album at all. For Taylor's standards, this is an experimental and schizophrenic album with extremely basic writing, super cringey for the most part and is a collection of songs that would ordinarily not be considered good enough for a full album. It seems like she had very little inspiration but wanted to put out another album because that's just what she does. She has to stop this constant releasing, her last few albums have been a lot more directionless and she's spiralling. If ever there was an excuse to take a break from the industry, this is it. The last song even sounds like a farewell to show business even though we know that's not the case. So much of it sounds so childlike (Opalite), there's a song literally about Travis's d**k (Wood), she's dissing Charli XCX (Actually Romantic), she's apparently secretly siding with Blake Lively (Cancelled!) and saying that she wishes she'd kissed an old friend who's now dead despite being in a relationship right now (Ruin The Friendship). It's like she took all the criticism she got for her last album ( not catchy enough, too long, lyrics overly artistic and pretentious) and over-corrected to create this poppy, short, basically written album that didn't need to exist. This is the most off-the-wall thing she's ever made and so unlike the consistent works with clear visions she's put out before. Her weirdest album to date and I'd never class a Taylor album as weird.

The critic reviews aren't as glowing and fans are weirdly seeing what the rest of us are. Is there finally a turn in the tide? It's crazy (in a good way) to think Gaga's last 2 albums have better scores than Taylor's last 2 albums. Maybe this is a sign that overexposure has finally done a number on her and now she's hit her peak, it's time for a bit of a reality check.
