Ranking Disease

Gaga gave us three amazing versions of this song, once again showcasing the brilliance of her musicianship! 

As much as I adore the main version and consider it one of her strongest songs, I love how she turned a mid-tempo dance track into a dark ballad. So my ranking is:

1. Disease (The Poison)

2. Disease (The Antidote)

3. Disease (Main version) 

How would you rate the three versions?

I would put it as:

1. Disease (Main version)

2. Disease (The Poison)

3. Disease (The Antidote)

I guess sort of starting with the full song and then stripping away more layers. I only rank it this way because the main version slapped me across the face so hard I still blast the song today and it may be my favorite off MAYHEM. The Poison is number two for me because of the vocal techniques she uses and I love watching her sway to the song in the video... It feels like watching a super intimate performance in a bar or something. I put the Antidote as three because it feels like an early version of the song (like how she perhaps began writing parts of it) and it has such a raw emotion but it is not a version i frequently go back to listen to.

But all in all, each version really is equally as good as the other because of how different they all are. Disease was the song that told us Gaga was making a return, and quite honestly it was the highlight of my entire 2024 when she released it alongside the mv.
