Disney can't win though, they are between the MAGA and the dems.. it's not just with Kimmel, but with everything.

But we need to be careful though, if Disney falls, millions of people would lose their jobs. it would be catastrophic.

This. Remember when they withdrew funding from Florida because of the don't say gay bill and Ron desantis threatened to build a prison in Disney world? I think they have a lot of great people working for them, their films are always championing important stuff, but in this case they made a big mistake, the total boycott thing is just extreme imo, but if it worked great I guess.

what about colbert?

His termination wasn't 100% sudden and it got disguised as something else so there wasn't much backlash, therefore I don't see his show being brought back.

Disney should of thought about that before they politicalized their brand to the ground...now everything is a statement or a lack of protest

They cant win and this is why corporations need to stay out of politics all together

ESPECIALLY as it relates to a facist like Trump...Jimmy didn't deserve the public humiliation of being fired ao abruptly and it led to an uproar across Hollywood and the country

Tomorrow will be very interesting...:reductive:

Thoughtful conversations... LOL, their stocks dropped $ 4 billion since the suspension :ladyhaha: Of course this had nothing to do with the decision to return on air :lolga:

Big companies only understand money talks, what else is new. Glad for Jimmy though, the suspension should have never happened in the first place. Some... people must be fuming right now and that's a pretty satisfying thought :ally:

So Disney is like: We're bringing this show back but Sinclair is like: Not on ABC you're not ... Am I getting that right?

No. Disney owns ABC... Sinclair owns some affiliate stations (both ABC and others). Only those stations will be affected.

But, Sinclair needs to burn. They've long been known as right-wing, and aspiring monopolists, but this will draw them more negative attention than they've had before. Don't let up.

This happens to include my local ABC affiliate. I assume the show will still be available on Hulu.

I'm glad he's coming back, but if he actually apologizes I'll be sick to my stomach.

This quick of a reversal means Jimmy won, IMHO. I don't foresee an apology.

All money is green...but to lose so much so quickly was a response from both pools im sure...

Definitely the public image was damaged with protests taking place outside the HQ offices of Disney companies...not a good look when their brand reputation is already in the gutter and to lose even MORE stock...thats where all of a sudden they grew a pair and capitulated

I sure hope Disney didnt force him to apologize to get his show back...or worse donate money to any MAGA cause

Hell, Disney stars were encouraging the protests. I'm sure part of the reason was the risk that if the protest opened the floodgates for Disney stars/employees, lots of bad press would start leaking about shady business practices.

Media can't stay out of politics. Look at Star Wars, which themed 50 years of content around fighting fascism. Donald/Mickey were propaganda machines during WWII. Lilo and Stitch had themes of environmentalism. None of these themes were polarized until Trump started talking about media bias and woke extremism. Target has supported the LGBT community for decades, and wasn't "getting canceled" until Pride in 2022 or 2023.
