Estonia's foreign ministry condemned the incursion as "brazen". It said three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets entered the airspace of a Nato member "without permission and remained there for a total of 12 minutes" on Friday over the Gulf of Finland. Nato spokesperson Allison Hart said the military alliance "responded immediately and intercepted the Russian aircraft", calling it "yet another example of reckless Russian behaviour and Nato's ability to respond". Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal later said his government had "decided to request Nato Article 4 consultations". Article 4 of the Nato treaty formally starts urgent consultations within the 32-member alliance, which ties the US and many European nations together on collective defence. And seeing he recently was buddy buddy with China and North Korea shortly after the flop Alaskan summit..im guessing they have an agreement to support each other in case of nuclear war breaks out... This is why I think the east is pushing... The US is not as strong as it claims to be with a crippling economy, political instability, and rising unemployment. NATO members don’t want to shoot them down, since nobody knows how Russia would answer—most likely, Russia would just act even bolder and use it as propaganda at home to get more support for the war in Ukraine. These airspace violations are nothing new—Russia has done the same to Finland now and then for years. We always react, and nothing serious has ever come from it. It’s not something to be scared of, but it is still offensive and must be taken seriously. Right now, Russia is too busy with the war in Ukraine to start new ones, and the last thing they want is to cause real harm to European countries and risk pushing them to support Ukraine even more.
