Arianators Outrage As Ariana Grande Announces There Are No More Tour Dates

I get the London choice, she's lived there while filming Wicked so it makes sense she wants to stick around there for a bit in a place she feels comfortable.

I also get the vibe she likes the album but she doesn't want to perform it much, so this is just a "get it done" thing.

Ariana's never been an artist who does huge tours that go everywhere, her last tour in 2019 only went to the US and Europe. She's only done 2 tours where she visited LatAm and Asia and she's only been to Oceania once. Her biggest success lies in US and Europe so she naturally sticks there. Coupled with the album only having 3 singles and being released over a year ago and her saying upon tour announcement that it would be a short tour, I really don't know what her fans expected. It's sad that doing US and Europe only tours have become the norm but that's just the way it is. Unless the artist has always focused on international appeal, it's best not to expect anything these days.

I feel like he explained the infrastructure challanges and costs better than I did @StrawberryBlond as this is more detailed than my more generic superficial knowledge of it

Im not bringing it up again to insist on being right or anything like that. I just failed to explain properly and I thought this post summed it up well. I knew the costs they were talking about had nothing to do with flights and hotels cuz thats peanuts from a tour perspective, but I couldnt explain it properly cuz my knowledge of the infrastructure and services gaps in some of these Countries is kinda fragmented and I have only a vague idea of what the issues are

I still think ur right that from an artists integrity standpoint profit shouldnt be everything tho.

I think that shows a detailed explanation for sure, I didn't realise that LiveNation doesn't exist in LatAm and that means local companies have to pick up the cost. It also now makes sense why tour stages are simplified and diminished when touring in LatAm. It didn't stop acts like Shakira and Coldplay touring extensively there with tons of stadiums dates recently though. I just want to know why some artists have the infrastructure present and others don't. @andy232000 can you shed more light on this? I know part of the reason why Gaga never did a big tour in LatAm since BTW was because tickets didn't sell as well and she likely made a bit of a loss. Does it ultimately all come down to how popular you are?

I don’t know Shakira’s case particularly, but for Coldplay I know that they paid for the entire tour. They actually didn’t even use a third-party production company, at least in my country. My friend confirmed to me that there wasn’t even a bidding for them cause they specifically wanted to handle it themselves. Not even Live Nation for LATAM. They essentially brought in an internal team to it and they paid for the entire stage to ship.

Shakira’s case could be because she is huge in LATAM so she doesn’t suffer the risk of not selling enough tickets that will cover the production cost. Someone like Gaga might not sell out her tour here so yes, if there is no demand to justify the cost and produce a profit, most artist will not come here. Other might not come because they don’t want to diminish the show. Imagine Gaga saying yes to doing the Mayhem Ball without the Skull, stairs, or catwalk, without the pyro, with screens with a lower resolution…I can see her turning us down lol

Another scenario that could explain it is that sometimes artist will “sell” the rights to their tour to these local production companies, so instead of earning from tickets, the local company pays the artist a flat fee upfront and then they get all ticket sales. If the ticket sales aren’t enough to cover the artist’s fee, then local productions simply won’t even bother bringing western acts because they don’t have enough demand to recuperate the investment. In Coldplay’s case, since they did it themselves, no one “bought” the rights to their tour, so there was no local company that had to worry about recovering costs.

Is columbian.

It’s not columbian, its Colombian.
Its a shame how we still see a lot of people (especially Americans) calling the country Columbia instead of Colombia.

Yeah, I'm dyslexic and wrote that message out quickly while walking to the gym for a PT session.

I get it, but from the beginning she said this wasn’t going to be a huge tour with limited dates.

I do wonder why she decided to do 10 London shows and not like spread some of those dates to other countries in Europe.

I didn’t even get tickets but my ass will be going one way or another :fthis:

Yeah same, 10 times london seems excessive when all of Western Europe has Arenas just like the UK has. I would definitely have wanted to see her but I'm not booking a ticket to London for her like Gagisha made me do lol :neyde:

My biggest gripe w Ashnikko's presale is that my email for her tour just loaded, and it only came 3 hours before the presale. But at least her ticket prices are reasonable.

Yes I'm so glad her tickets were affordable! The only tickets I've seen or heard of recently that aren't insane dynamic pricing. And she's playing a very small venue here too which I'm so excited about because I should be able to get close! :excited2:

At least Ariana didn't use dynamic pricing. It was cute to see lower bowl seats at a reasonable price. And I love that her VIPest package includes the opportunity to write her a postcard.

However I don't ever remember touring being much different, aside from less dynamic pricing. The BTWB was pretty much put on sale 10 days after the first announcement (in Asia) which is very similar to how many days there were between Ariana's announcement and the tickets going on presale. Beyoncé also had similar presales.

Taylor did do something where fans who bought the album could allegedly get tickets first but even that was a mess because she only sent codes to SOME fans and those who never received codes were never able to buy tickets in the UK since she never opened the sale to people who never reiceved a code. :enigma:

I'm surprised that she's the one who stood up against dynamic ticket pricing out of everybody, even Gaga. Huge props to her for that. Me memory is that things were advertised well before tickets went on sale in the past. But who knows, maybe I'm just romanticising the past. What I do know is that it used to feel much less stressful and confusing. Maybe they used to announced on radios and posters etc that an artist was going to come, before even announcing tour dates, so we knew that dates were on the way. Idk

Honestly I truly believe fans should get first dibs at tickets. I think 50% of tickets should be set aside for fan presales through a mailing list, and whatever is leftover should just go straight to public sales soon after. I really hate how there are about 3-6 different presales now all with very limited tickets. I'm also sure fan presales used to be more common but I could be wrong on that too. Idk it just feels more fair and ethical. But we all know that Ticketmaster doesn't give a single f.uck if anything is fair or ethical because they'll make their money either way. So many people including myself have had issues buying tickets through them and they literally don't give a sh.it. The biggest ticket seller in the world can't afford stable servers that can handle large queues without freezing and kicking people out? Give me a break. Billionaire scum :Cautious:

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
