Fake fans?

So I've known this heavy metal fan for years. Up until mayhem, she really didn't like gaga. But then mayhem came and she loved the album. But that's it. She just loves that album. No other song is to her taste. Night 1 Toronto she got tickets. And in the meantime before even going, did nothing but complain about her adding new dates. "Had I known she would come to Montreal, I could save money" just bitching and moaning. I finally went off on her and called her out on all the complaining she had been doing. But it's just not cool.  Another actual fan could have gone in her place and not just someone who only likes half an album. Am I the asshole?

No, you wanted to share a good moment with your friend. It's a bit sad that this one didn't help make this moment enjoyable.. But, I mean concerts are for everyone, it's just listening to music in live. 

I saw videos of some ppl using shazam to find the title of "Poker Face".

I'm in Alabama and she's in Canada. She even fell through with getting me merch like she said. Like the whole situation is just bs. Actual fans should be able to go and instead it's just people who like one or two songs or some shiz. It's disheartening

I mean if she doesn’t like most of Gaga’s catalogue, it is what it is. But the way she acted  as you describe it sucks because she made things less enjoyable for you and backed out of a promise. It’s also hard to believe even someone who’s meh on her recorded music doesn’t appreciate her almost universally acclaimed showmanship. No cure for bad taste I guess.

You’re an asshole because she can do whatever she wants with her money. Unless she directly came for you, it seems pointless. It’s also pointless to gatekeep. She’s free to complain all she wants. However she does sound unpleasant and kind of a bitch. I don’t entertain energy vampires and couldn’t be friends with one. 
 

when I went to the mayhem ball, I sat next to a local. I don’t think concerts should be exclusive for fans. I’ve gone to plenty of show for artists I’m a casual listener because I still like them and I enjoy the atmosphere of a good concert. The local I sat next to at Mayhem was so sweet and she was asking me about songs like summerboy and now is eager to do a Gaga deep dive beyond singles.

anyways if she bothers you this much, drop her. 
 

edit: I read more posts after OP, yeah she doesn’t sound fun. She’s free to dislike Gaga but again you’re free to do what you want. if she’s bothering you this much… drop her. I personally wouldn’t be friends with someone unpleasant.

You’re not asshole. But it’s not about her being fake fan or not, I think it’s more about her personality. We can’t gatekeep being a Gaga fan in the end.

How can one be a gaga fan if they don't even like her music? Hating all but one album? Not a fan imo
