Why babe? Kendrick is her strongest competition and as someone said before he hasnt done anything after the superbowl, like does someone knows any song from his album besides Luther? It will be so unfair to give him the grammy for AOTY without lifting a finger while Gaga is doing so much for this album, i will be so mad

The re-issuing to include Can't Stop the High, The Dead Dance, and Kill For Love I would say also reinvigorated interest in Mayhem because it's been so refreshing having a full 17 track album. I always tell people Born This Way is her magnum opus but s*** I don't know I feel Mayhem might be taking that title at some point with this massively phenomenal campaign. Can she have two Magnum Opuses?

I don’t know, I don’t trust the GRAMMYs. They literally gave SOTY to Not Like Us when Die With A Smile, Birds Of A Feather or even Expresso were right there…

Honestly...very few albums this year have had as much impact as MAYHEM with 3 viral songs... DWAS...Abracadabra...and now Dead Dance tracking well...even months apart from each other

I'm starting to believe gaga is the main contender to AOTY atp, and it makes sense, she is everywhere since the Album release and the album is still popular 7 months after (especially now with a new hit in the making).

Gaga deserves this AOTY so much, the academy will be on the wrong side of history if they dont pick her.

I did anticipate Gaga’s campaign to be more aggressive simply because it’s logical that if she’s the runner up, she has to go full offensive. Kendrick has to hold down the fort. What I did not expect was for Kendrick to not keep the GNX era going at all. I don’t know if it’s a hip hop/rapper thing, or a Kendrick thing. I mean I very much still see Doja Cat, Cardi B, Tyler The Creator and Drake putting out music.

What’s also interesting to me is that both Kendrick and Gaga are signed to the same label, which leads me to believe that Interscope shockingly, is actually betting on Gaga and that’s why they are funding and allowing the campaign. Maybe Interscope assumes Kendrick is the “safe typical” winner, so they’ll put their efforts into helping Gaga cause that way if Kendrick loses it will still be to an Interscope Artist. But ultimately that hurts Kendrick cause they are willingly cannibalizing their winning horse for their “second” winning horse. 
 

I’m always going to be biased in favor of Gaga, but if you asked me TODAY to put that aside and call out the AOTY winner based on how things are NOW, Gaga would win.

You yourself just pointed out why that happened. Grammys are as much a numbers game as they are a music game. When you have so many GIANT hits in one same music genre the votes split. Not only was Die With A Smile, Birds of A Feather and Espresso right there, so we’re Good Luck, Babe and Fortnight. That’s more than 50% of the nominees being pop songs. 
 

Everyone who leans Pop probably split their votes between these 5 nominees and not a single one got enough votes to surpass Not Like Us, who had the entire support from the Hip Hop voters. Had only 2-3 songs been Pop, or had only one of these been a massive hit, Kendrick would have never won. 
 

Yes, Not Like Us was huge too and we have to remember that we live in a Pop-led ideal bubble 🫧, but the Grammys are very voter based. There’s statistic and numbers to it and depending on how the nominations are made up of, that tips the scale in favor of one or several acts. Its not that the Grammys are bad inherently, it’s just that sometimes the playing field will favor an artists.

Winners will be harder to call this year because just like many have been saying: there is no song of the summer. 

No one took the entire year by themselves to get the typical “oh A, B or C artist are clearly winning”. At least not on the single song based categories.  

Kendrick dominated thanks to the Super Bowl, but he lost momentum mid year and now is no where to be seen. 

Gaga’s momentum was in April-May and she didn’t smash as hard commercially in the US, but now is starting to pick up steam with an aggressive and strategically timed campaign

Bas Bunny made a very politically charged and relevant album, but his reach in the US might be limited and The Grammys might not have the balls to award him too much outside the Latin categories.

Sabrina Carpenter will only dominate the landscape for less than a month before Taylor Swift takes over, and her album was received with much deserved criticism, enough to miss key nominations

The Weeknd is currently on a very successful tour, yet his film bombed hard and again hasn’t done anything new in the last months. His Grammy campaign is dependent on the Recording Academy respecting their PR relationship. 

Alex Warren has “the song of the summer”, but if history tells us anything, is that new artists banking on their one sole hit doesn’t go the distance in the General Field.

KPOP Demon Hunters also has “the song of the summer”, but the Grammys would never award a fictional group in General Field.

Chappell Roan has two possible entries, but both free fell immediately. 

Lorde almost beat Gaga in terms of critical acclaim, but the album fell hard too and spawned no hits. Plus Lorde is not pop enough to get the same level of respect Gaga has.

Addison Rae and Tate McRae are ambitious young female artists, but might be too young for voters to take seriously, especially Addison who might still appear as a “Tik toker”.

Mileys album flopped horribly and received lukewarm reviews from critics with no hits. Her only shot here is that the Academy seems to like her so they might nominate her but a win is impossible. 

Ariana Grande has a tumultuous history with the Grammys, Eternal Sunshine Deluxe tracks won’t be nominated. Her only shot and possible win is Best Music Film and a Wicked related win

And lastly, there was NO surplus of pop hits this year like last to cause a pop split. By all measures, only Gaga, Kendrick and Bad Bunny stood the test of time in 2025

I actively disagree that these are better lmao eusexua is kinda all over the place and mostly forgettable, virgin is kinda fine imo, and Addison is a solid album but waaaay too indebted to her inspos still for it to stand on its own imo. Mayhem is almost that at times but Gaga really loudly asserts her artistry on it too. It’s not the best album of the year to me but in popular music? Almost certainly

The Haus has been working really well to build this campaign. In contrast, ya’ll want to know who isn’t doing ****? Kendrick. His last post in social media was in February. No new single since then, no new video since then. No TV appearances, no press, no interviews since. Only his world tour. If Grammys are a politics game, NOW is the time for them to go full “let’s give it to the artist that is putting in the work”, cause Gaga is clearing

The NFL would not give him the Christmas halftime show if he JUST did the regular one this year. If anything, the rumor was that the NFL contacted GAGA for an undisclosed project. If its true there's higher chances of Gaga doing it than him.
