Gaga obviously has other priorities.

She has been crowned Artist of the Year.

This is undoubtedly more fitting to her than being businesswoman of the year.

Glad she is aligning herself so closely with a company that doesn't support DEI...this really works well into her "white women" persona...

Yes, I know Gaga had a deal with target for MAYHEM, but that was likely in place before everything happened with the DEI. After Kill for Love going on streaming that deal is basically null and void. So I highly doubt we will see her work with them again at that capacity.

Deals can be exited when the terms of the game change if they create grounds to break the deal early (eg reputational damage).

The target DEI walkback came on Jan 24th 2025, at that point Mayhem didn't even have preorders open or a public release date. They would have had 3 days to pause the announcement of the deal with Target and then would have had weeks to finalise a decision ahead of the album launching. IF they had wanted to take a stance. 

If we're going to (rightly) criticise one artist for doing deals with companies we should be boycotting even if arguments can be made in support of the artist such as this only being confirmed *after* the anti DEI ceo has been fired and the company is looking to rebuild. Then we equally need to apply the same level of critical thought to the artist we like.
