Someone should create a topic to keep-up with all the different versions of the album. That's like 8 versions so far?

what Taylor is doing would not work for any other artist lol

nobody even comes close to her level of popularity!

I think it could clearly work for Gaga and other artists but obviously not to the same level of success.

Gaga's music is simply not as bland/GP-friendly to reach as many masses but what Taylor does is cultivating a collector's culture within her own fan base by releasing exclusive, limited-edition and time-limited versions of her music/physicals.

These versions have different art, exclusive tracks, etc. etc. which makes fans desire to get as many "pieces of the puzzle" as possible.

Her marketing material is typically very top-notch too and each post and detail is carefully planned.

I genuinely think Gaga could double her physicals sales if she followed a similar tactic - this is totally reachable based on her popularity (for the haters, I'm not saying I would want Gaga to do this btw).

Even if Gaga doubled her sales, this would still be far off Taylor's numbers.

Didn't JLo's and Jonas Brothers' latest albums also had tons of different versions? JLo ended up debuting with 19 000 albums sold, so you could use the same tactics, but you also need a huge fanbase to make them work for you.

Absolutely not :ladyhaha: Taylor is very conventional in everything she does artistically and in the way she presents herself. Even her beauty is conventional. Everything is easily digestible for the public, especially for young people, so she gains more and more fans as time goes by.

Gaga is the opposite of that. All her albums are drastically different (Taylor has also tried different things, but they’re always in the shallow of the risk), her dance music is sometimes aggressive, her lyrics are very metaphorical and therefore hardly accessible for many, she’s unconventionally beautiful, is known for wearing bizarre outfits and making many people uncomfortable, she often uses her visibility to speak out on divisive topics…

So no, Gaga wouldn’t stand a chance to beat Taylor commercially in the age of blandness, in a time where colors literally disappear in culture.

I mean.. it kinda would double the sales if presented in such a way :p but her team has lately had an odd aversion to building hype and just releases everything outta nownere.

No bonus track?

Shhhh, thank God. The Toilet Scrub Department had variants for her lifetime. 12 tracks and that's it. Just like reputation only received 15 tracks. That's the best thing ever. I hate bonus tracks nowadays because they may release only at Target or only physical and we scrumble to listen to it on Apple Music. No. Just drop te he album on AM and that's all we're gonna need.

Judas is coming, let the cultural baptism begin.
