President Donald Trump posted a meme on social media Saturday saying that Chicago “will find out why it’s called the Department of WAR,” as the city’s officials brace for an immigration crackdown.

“I love the smell of deportations in the morning … Chicago about to find out why it’s called the Department of WAR,” the post reads. Trump signed an executive order Friday to rebrand the Pentagon as the “Department of War.”

The post includes what appears to be an artificially generated image of the president wearing a hat and sunglasses, with the Chicago skyline in the background, accompanied by text reading “Chipocalypse Now.”

Democratic Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker on Saturday called Trump’s post “not normal.”

“The President of the United States is threatening to go to war with an American city. This is not a joke. This is not normal,” Pritzker wrote on X. “Donald Trump isn’t a strongman, he’s a scared man. Illinois won’t be intimidated by a wannabe dictator.”

If we don’t ban together soon we are screwed. He’s threatening Oregon next - Seattle won’t be far behind that - and while I agree that both cities need to be cleaned up a bit - invading, threatening, using force on your own cities isn’t right.

First he claimed the left was violent because they said we have to fight back against his administration. He called everyone warhawks for defending allies. He said people need to vote for him because he's the only "peaceful" president. 

And now he's renaming the DOD the Department of War and posting about fiery war on a US city he doesn't like.

 I think the best way for JB Pritzker, and all of us really, to react to Trump's social media is to ignore it. It's just garbage on social media.

He will presumably make an official announcement that he's going to do X Y and Z in Chicago, and X Y and Z will be bad, but I think we should wait until he does that and then react to X Y and Z, not to social media bs.

He's not gonna go after them 'cause this isn't about crime. It's narcissistic need to disrupt blue states and stroke his own ego while "looking tough"

The reason why countries like Japan have low crime and homelessness rates is because they actually care for their homeless and know how to help people deal with crime. Charlie Kirk just made a video saying Japan was better because they "don't coddle the homeless", but it's actually the opposite. If US politicians actually cared for the homeless, then we would look more like Japan.
