Gaga has never been a song of tthe summer kind of girl when it comes to her releases tho, maybe it's her the one's that's struggling, not Gaga, this example is sending me, makes no sense

Under normal rules I'd agree.

But like Lizzo says, the way the GP consume music now is just tearing up the rules.

Nothing is gaining cultural traction even if it gains streaming traction.  It's really weird

She has a point because I had no idea/had totally forgotten Drake has a new album out :ladyhaha:

I kinda get her point.

Visibility is so hard these days even for major artists. If not for gagadaily i wouldn't even know a lot of these artists dropped music meanwhile back in the day, any artist with a strong label and good roll out would be inescapable on release day/week wether the project ended up flopping or not.

Its weird how these days a song can be slaying the charts and you might not even know it exists.

Its just so much harder to shuve an artist down ppls throats when algorithms now taylor peoples feed to what they like. Ppl will listen to whatever and largely be oblivious to artists or music they dont care for

That said i find these algorithms problematic for more serious matters than entertainment. I partially blame them for why politics has become so much more polarized and divisive than ever before....

U got ppl in platforms giving their opinion and their listeners largely only get fed the same point of view... ppl like to sh*t on established news networks but tbh, as biased as some of them can be, the internet can be far worse!

Most people are chained to their algorithms that only show them what they want to see. I think it’s a big factor as well

“No one can control the algorithm”? Bitch please

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

she kinda right but also a lot of new music isnt good so idc if i miss out or if i can't contribute to their streams :selena:

idk maybe im getting old but i prefer discovering different artists and genres on my own time, no need for an algorithm to put it in front me

i get what she means but it’s kinda shady to mention gaga and then say “there’s no song of the summer” like okay girl why don’t you drop a hit as big as abracadabra and save 2025 :awkney:

I honestly think HBDYWM would have been a summer smash if Gaga released it back in May/June.

I’m shocked that HBDUWM or GOE was not released this summer. The stream numbers on Spotify proved each song's potential. Yet again another mismanagement from her team with the same mistakes we’ve been seeing since BTW came out.

Everyone here attacking her and missing her point entirely proofs how social media has irrevocably changed the way we interact with content. Instead of humoring her point, ya’ll just go for the Katy “girl whatever” “oh so her music isn’t selling so she’s saying that” responses. What she said is 10000% true from a business pov. The consumer has transformed from a passive figure to an active on over the last three decades and it’s making our FYP hyper specific to the point that massive appeal is impossible

Absolutely. The decline of TV and radio, the dominance of on demand streaming…the monolith of pop culture that record labels used to rely on for marketing just doesn’t exist anymore. That’s part of the reason why, very rarely, do old school marketing (TV performances, late night appearances, radio etc) really move the needle. The only major flashpoints for TV specifically that move the needle are the Super Bowl and maybe the Grammy’s, but otherwise, potential viewership is divided among all different kinds of alternative media (TikTok, Twitch, on demand TV streaming etc). Same goes for radio.

We have forgotten our public MANNERS

And that’s why labels are shitting their pants and pushing artists to go viral on tik tok, because it’s the ONLY way a content will appear across the board on all of our FYPs, and even so, the user can block the sound or say they aren’t interested in the trend or type of content. The consumer has too much power now and they can easily reject promo spots done by labels. Which is also why Lizzo has a second GREAT point: listen to YOUR fan base. There’s a marketing rule about loyalty that states only 20% of your public will become a loyal followers. That 20% most loyal are the ones that will bring 80% of your profit. Instead of catering to the rest of the public who isn’t loyal to you, cater to the die hard fans, they will keep you afloat.

That’s also why we will never have another Gaga, or another Beyonce or Taylor. Pop starts will just never be able to have a huge fanbase like in the old days. What they can achieve is a loyal 20% who will buy their stuff. That’s why people like Charlie XCX or Lana are still able to make a living while simultaneously be “niche” artists.
