The U.S. economy added 22,000 jobs and the unemployment rate rose to 4.3 percent in August, according to the first federal jobs report released since President Trump fired the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics(BLS).

Economists expected the U.S. to gain 75,000 jobs last month with the unemployment rate rising slightly to 4.3 percent, up from 4.2 percent in July, according to consensus projections.

Trump fired former BLS Director Erika McEntarfer, a veteran of both Republican and Democratic administrations, after the dismal July jobs report last month. Not only did the report show the U.S. adding just 72,000 jobs in July, but it included large downward revisions to previous reports.

So tariffs aren’t bringing jobs back to the US.

Deporting immigrants isn’t opening up jobs for US citizens.

And Trump’s “Golden Age” will actually be a recession at this point.

Idiots in this country were played so hard and all I can do is laugh. These people will never admit their mistake but it gives me so much pleasure to know they secretly know how f*cked they are.

Its unfortunate because it affects all of us- but yes... I couldn't give a **** (no matter how hard I tried) that someone who voted for this is now complaining ONLY because it now affects them! They deserve the life they voted for, but sadly that means we all go down with them

I’m wholeheartedly convinced they never expected or cared about any of this and got behind this administration solely because of what they’re doing to marginalized groups. They don’t care if they suffer as long as women, brown, and queer people are treated like ****. They wanted the camps, the deportations, the torture. Every bit of it even if it means they suffer too. They’re evil, cruel and stupid people. But it is glorious watching them burn with the rest of us

Its beyond clear they are trying to deliberately manufacture an economic crash to allow the likes of Bezos to launch massive land grabs for cheap.

Lord Mayhem

Rising tarrifs leading to mass layoffs as companies struggle to manage their finances

AI and bots rapidly taking over many jobs both specialized and low-skill

Mass deportations slowing economic growth in hospitality, agriculture, and infrastructure

The list goes on and on...

I've been out of work for 3.5 years...I can attest that the number of jobs have drastically decreased and nobody wants to hire full time, offer weak benefits, and demand unrealistic years of experience for very low wages :saladga:

I have a Bachelors degree in Marketing and see jobs in my field offering less than a McDonald's worker...:fthis:

Whats interesting is manufacturing jobs are taking some of the biggest hits with outright losses, the very sector hes trying to revive with tarrifs...

So many reasons why that might have somewhat worked (badly) in 1970 but doesnt work at all in 2025 :rip:

Jesus I really do think we're heading for a global downturn like no other, I'm from the UK so I do my best to pay attention to the US to know what's in store. It might be my own job loss that's making me more radicalised by watching so much bad news everywhere but I wanna say this, the only way we win this in the end is by the working class and middle class uniting against billionaires on tax policy. One day I truly think it will get so bad we have no other choice and I dream it won't come to that but I feel we are not that many steps away from the atrocities that led to WW2. I hope people here will have it in their hearts to one day unite with the political right and take down the money sucking bastards at the top, I know how polarised America is and I don't want it to get too bad that it prevents that because that is the only thing stopping us from getting our wealth back as a society

Nobody wants society to be wealth unless you’re part of the wealthy society. Humans are so stupid and selfish that we would just rather keep on segregating, this race is doomed.

There's more of us than them. We've done it before we can do it again. Please don't throw in the towel so soon, it only helps them in the end

I mean if we're making comparisons with the era preceeding ww2.

It's worth pointing out how near perfectly identical the economy currently is to what it was before the Wall Street crash in 1929.

The Wall Street Crash came on the back of a number of key factors. People's savings had been predominantly invested into speculation on the stock exchange, agriculture was suffering due to falling prices and as a result farmers were building up unmanageable debt, and the consumer goods industry was increasingly struggling to maintain sales due to low wages. As a result, unemployment was going up further exacerbating the issue of depressed sales due to poor purchasing power among consumers.

Its near identical to the issues facing the US economy and the global economy right now nearly 100 years later.

And its all because we've torn up every protection the Greatest generation and the Silent generation put in place. God I hope Regan & Thatcher are suffering in hell.

But that’s the point, a lot more of us who could just get united but instead we prefer not to. And that’s the rich, politicians and “leaders” main agenda to stay in power.
Just look at the gay community as an example, which instead of getting it together, rather go out and proceeds to add a different color and more letters to the flag every year, this is a clear classic way of segregating people of the same “community” if you ask me.

The right wing agenda is very aware of that and knowing how it works, we are now at the high risk of having rights taken simply due to lack of unity.
