For fans of an artist that quite literally went through the same experience as Ava, you guys sure do lack empathy. "ARTPOP was such a hard time for Gaga" after media hate, change in management, label issues. Gaga still talks about how traumatizing it all was for her, and you can see how it changed her. Take a step back and look in the mirror for a minute before you bully people online for a reputation point on a meaningless online site.

Tbf, Gaga never fell off this hard lmao

I have do empathy for Ava and I wish she had better numbers. It is the art that matters more. However ARTPOP wasn't this bad though. It was still a successful album with hit singles like Applause and even DWUW, but not as massive as her previous albums.

Both were released before Troy and her parted ways.

🤷🏼‍♂️ Don't really know what to tell you. The height from which they fall doesn't matter. She still split with her manager during the rollout, impacting the rollout itself and the things emotionally attached to that. It's pretty clear the label isn't happy with her, even since D&D. She herself said that there are things she couldn't control. Part of the reason we never got more ARTPOP was due to rights to the music being attached to Troy, I assume the same holds true for Gaga. But if that's the excuse you have to make yourself to be hateful to others, then 🤷🏼‍♂️

I think people are allowed to criticize her artistry output and she is making very safe radio pop.

Are people calling her b*tch or terrible person? :samanthac:

Of course it's worse than Katy :laughga:

I personally don't listen to her music, but people sometimes be acting like she's not having a career in music for almost 20 years is crazy

• She parted ways with two managements during this rollout.  She was signed to Scooter's management company, but he retired and she was left without management after “My Oh My”.
When she started teasing “Spot A Fake,” the CEO of her label was fired after 20 years. Ava's song was delayed for a few months. When she finally released it, she had no label support because they were undergoing restructuring. She signed with new management. Her album 'Made From Scratch' got scrapped. She recorded new one at the beginning of the year. She announced a tour, split with her manager, and had to cancel the tour...
• She was originally signed to Atlantic's imprint APG and had more support during her first album.
'My Head & My Heart' was her last song under APG before they ended its partnership with Atlantic, and all their artists have been moved directly under Atlantic and since then they have had much less support.

I agree she doesn't deserve the hate but I think the difference is gaga lived and died by ARTPOP she breathed the art she released and stood by it. Along with various other factors for the 'underperformsnce, the album was considered experimental and has since been called ahead of its time. Ava's music is too safe. I haven't given the album a proper listen yet so i can't say my thoughts but she isn't what i would call an artist.

ARTPOP was considered a flop coming from the height of BTW but it was still commercially successful selling over 200k copies in its first week too!

I know it's basic, I accept that, and yet I cannot bring myself to click play.

if you're gonna tell me not to click play don't expect me to listen....

First time I saw adds for the album on NYC subways I was like OK girl I won't!

Feels like a massive publicity misstep. What's the goal? Get people to feel naughty? Tempt them with tabboo?

The people saying she told them not to click play or just making fun of her career aren't making criticisms about the music though. If you just don't like the music, that's fine. Say all you want about it. The issue I'm seeing though is people just coming in here to make fun of her numbers or promo or anything else without even caring to say anything regarding the actual music.

It's the same people that complain (rightfully) about the genocide or discrimination or anything else hate related that's posted on here. It's an extreme, but it comes from the same place. Dehumanizing people and spreading hate, while devoid of any empathy. It's sad and sick. Social media normalized doing sick **** like that for clout.

I understand but I don't necessarily agree. Why are we even judges on what artists stand by what? This is still her job, you never know what she's having to say or do for her employer (the label). And it's very obvious she lacks control over her output anyways.

At the end of the day, artistic integrity has absolutely nothing to do with the emotions tied to having to change management or being forced to promote or not promote music you've tied your name to. She spoke about how there's things she can't talk about. And she spoke about how hard it's been for her to record music in the first place because she only ever was in the studio with the man that ended up cheating on her. In another thread people even tried to blame HER for him cheating. It's people being plain hateful for the fun of it. It's not about "Well Gaga seemed like she actually cared about ARTPOP" or "Well Gaga still sold better". Failing to understand that at the end of the day the numbers themselves don't even matter and that the display of how well someone seems to stand by their music is just a failure to recognize a person as a person. Not everyone on this site is gay, but a LARGE majority is. So for this to come from the "Love is love" and "I just want the right to exist as myself" community is absolutely rich.
