This week Jonas Brothers achieve their eighth top 10-charted project on the Billboard 200 as Greetings From Your Hometown starts at No. 6 with 39,000 equivalent album units. Of that sum, album sales comprise 26,000, SEA units comprise 13,000 (equaling 16.49 million on-demand official streams of its songs) and TEA units comprise a negligible sum.

The first-week sales of Greetings were aided by its availability as a widely available 10-song standard vinyl and CD album. The set was also available in two additional vinyl variants (one signed) and more than 50 CD variants (including 50 signed editions, individualized for each of the 50 States of the U.S.), a deluxe download edition with four bonus tracks, a deluxe download edition with six bonus tracks and an artist webstore-exclusive download edition with bonus live tracks. source

variants can be fun as a couple of alternatives but BB needs to control this

Billboard's recent rule changes:

Variant Limit: Albums are now limited to a maximum of four digital or exclusive direct-to-consumer (D2C) variants.

Digital Album Redemption: To count toward chart performance, purchased digital albums must be redeemed (downloaded).

hCaptcha Verification: A hCaptcha verification is now required for digital album purchases to prevent fraudulent bot activity.

Minimum Prices: A minimum price is enforced for album purchases: $7.99 for digital albums and CDs, and $15.99 for vinyl.

Restrictions

VPN Usage: Purchases made using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) are not eligible for chart placement, preventing overseas fans from artificially inflating sales figures.

Last-Minute Discounts: Artists are prohibited from offering discounts on albums during the first week of release to avoid artificial sales boosts.

Digital Album Release Timing: New digital album versions cannot be released mid-week in the first tracking week; they must be available for pre-order or released in a subsequent week.

Fan Bundles: Although not directly about variants, the rules regarding merchandise bundles were also revised. Artists are limited to selling two types of fan bundles, which must include a physical album copy and a separate merchandise item, with both available independently.
