Glad some of you are being honest and unashamed of liking her and/or her music. The constant hate and snarky comments for her on this website is getting redundant af. Like please I don’t need to keep reading the same exact comments paraphrased from the same users in every Taylor thread over the years lol. It’s not that deep, touch grass.

I think many of us think shes ok (even pretty good). But the sheer level of adoration and extreme success seems very disproportionate for her level of talent and artistry

Also some of her sales tactics are cheap af

So I do somewhat like TS and some of her singles. But i think much of the criticism she receives is well deserved imo.

i feel like a lot of peeps hopped on that americana trend as soon as lana came out heck the swagpino craze deff came from the shift of like 2010 gays to like hipster to like street swag all in the span on like 3 years

all i’m saying is idk if lana’s effect is rly that noticeable but she deff shaped how music is viewed and given today, when we had gaga in her beginning it was all major but major announcement major countdown

now it’s all shifted to be more subdue to be more organic with it to be more of yourself than a persona

I think Lana sparked a trend where we saw women and gays embrace a form of Americana.

But that trend hasn't formed a lasting legacy. Especially when a lot of the names bandied about as influenced by this, are people who didn't really do americana as a result or are just generic indie singer/songwriters that aren't necessarily americana artists.

Without any new music, just because of an album announcement

I really don't think Taylor's music is that GP masses friendly anymore, like folklore and evermore are risky releases for someone who moved towards straightforward pop music, same with tortured poets. She has mass appeal based on her deep lyricism and lore I think. As for Lana's influence, she made it mainstream to put lyrics in the front of pop music, before that we had recession pop about partying and clubbing etc.

At the end of the day popular music trends have always been driven by young people and most young people now crave personal deep lyrics over earworm bangers, I think Taylor fits that perfectly tbh. I could maybe get on board with the whole cringe GP friendly pop argument 10 years ago but she's matured musically a lot since then and the last 4 albums have made her bigger than ever.

My thought exactly. Biggest numbers ≠ biggest artist.

Fair points and even if I agreed, I just fail to understand us constantly criticizing her in each thread over and over again. Because they’re always the same remarks from the same users, and I’m just sitting here like babe you’ve been saying these things since Lover era at least lol. Nothing is gonna change, do we really need the same people telling us how much they don’t get the hype around her and throw in their snarky remarks for the 100th time if not more. If you dislike her or don’t get the hype around stop commenting what you already did, why waste your energy and wave your disapproval flag every album cycle. Dunno that’s just my take.

"And when I felt like I was an old cardigan
Under someone's bed
You put me on and said I was your favorite

A friend to all is a friend to none
Chase two girls, lose the one
When you are young, they assume you know nothing"

That's deep lyrics to y'all? Stale bread has more character than Taylor's lyrics. I can understand liking it because it's easy to understand and catchy. Easily digested. But to mis-characterize what she's doing? This is something I would expect to see from a high schooler's edgy poetry book.

The constant hate is so stale. Argue with the wall about her talent, there's clearly millions of people who see it, and you're not edgy or more evolved by being a critic.

I'm just glad I stan LG, Bey AND Tay because I'm constantly getting fed :glamourpuss:
