Ophelia 4,749
idk how you can rank an EP so high next to her LPs, it never made sense to me. Mayhem is sonically daring, you can tell she tried to explore and push the boundaries as much as she could. It’s mature in it’s lyrics and overall full of surprises with a cute throwback to her pre-Gaga roots. The guitars in almost every track are amazing, they give such a fun flare and tie the album toghether. While TFM has amazing singles and top tier MVs (i don’t think it’s possible to top these - while i love BTW videos with my entire heart and they’re some of my favs too, they weren’t as effortlessly cool as TFM mvs) it’s quite simple in sound, shiny synthpop. Earworms only Gaga could pull off. But I dont think it’s enough to say it it’s better than Mayhem. The fillers sound like TF rejects (great, but still). It’s definitely no Gaga bible, BTW is right there 💒 ...has anybody seen my disco stick?

The Fame Monster is also just way too short. Both eras have amazing visuals, but Mayhem’s feels far more cohesive — from the Disease music video to The Mayhem Ball, everything ties perfectly into the story. And honestly, The Mayhem Ball is her best tour to date. I love The Fame Monster, but I’ve got to give the crown to Mayhem. I thought by your username you would’ve picked TFM

Mayhem is literally an attempt to harness the "dark" sound of TFM and BTW. It's her returning to her roots and using darkness to heal. It's an incredible album, but you gotta honor the roots. davideeee 24
Guys... MAYHEM is objectively her best album. The production and influences are like nothing she did before. You are just some nostalgic kids. 3

I love TFM and BTW and honor them but I sincerely believe Mayhem is actually her best album. The quality, complexity and growth she showed on this album is second to none if her discography. BTW will always have a special place in my heart, but I think Mayhem is more consistent with generally equally high highs at least for me but I respect your opinion too. I’m just saying it’s not just recency bias that’s causing people to choose Mayhem as her best. There are valid reasons for choosing it that aren’t rooted in bias.

For me TFM has her best work (as in her best songs), while BTW is the strongest album overall.
