SidewalkUnicorn 19
I think this is mainly coming from this one person who spams Reddit saying they’re in the industry or industry adjacent and they’ve heard MP was a terrible person. Would I be shocked if he turned out to be a pos? No because I’m an elderly hag who has seen it all 😜, but she seems happy and it’s none of my business. RBL 577
This is giving textbook Little Monsters’ Oedipus complex, lmao. Gaga hasn’t looked this happy in ages, and Michael clearly lit that spark for her to jump back into what she loves. Hating on the guy who’s making her glow? That’s… a choice. Haters should maybe get a hobby. Edited Saturday at 01:49 PM by RBL ABRⱯCADⱯBRA
StrawberryBlond 14,861
There was a blind item circulating on one of those celeb gossip sites that said that he was very controlling and was only with Gaga for her money and connections. It was a very involved post, most of these blinds are just a sentence or two. This was a massive paragraph that seemed to be speculation written by a concerned fan who was reading way too much into what they perceived as red flags. I ultimately think it's all rumour. Gaga has looked the happiest she has in years, she's making some of her best ever music, she talks about how much she loves Michael, he hasn't stopped her from working in any capacity and encourages her. Taylor Swift's ex was also playing a part in the songwriting of two of her albums under a pen-name and her fans rightfully thought that was sweet and while they eventually broke up, they stayed together for 3 years after this happened. Most abusive men don't want their woman going anywhere or doing anything outside him. I've never seen Michael force his way into the spotlight and while he may be contributing to her career, he's doing so behind the scenes, which seems genuine. I have seen abusive celebrity relationships and this really doesn't seem like one.

Yeah, not to mention that the idea that he would need Gaga financially when his net worth is double hers is ludicrous tbh. I could maybe see the exposure argument but, as you said, he never seems to force himself into the spotlight and is usually framed in a supportive role than a leading role in her projects. IMO, she’s worked with lots of folks that were way more prone to claiming credit for her success (Gibson, Jackson, Russell-Linitz) and has been engaged to men that needed the connections/money far more than Michael does (Kinney, Carino). In fact, the fact that they’re independently successful is probably something that makes this relationship healthier (Gaga has said that her success has been intimidating to former partners). Obviously I can’t claim to know everything here, but Michael seems like an overwhelmingly positive influence to n her. Oriane 21,054
I'm not seeing the proofs of abuse that some people are trying to show. She's talking about him a lot this era? That's what she does for every album, she finds something personal to share about the creation of the album and she repeats it to sell the storytelling. MAYHEM is "Michael helped me get better and pushed me to make a new album", Chromatica was "I was depressed and was chainsmoking in my front of my house and BloodPop pushed me to make an album", Joanne was "I made this album for my dad because I realized that all the issues I had with him growing up were the result of his own trauma", ARTPOP was "Breaking my hip, cancelling the tour and being away from my fans was really hard, I made this album for them because they really understand me", etc. He's involved in all of her projects and is credited as an executive producer? That's actually really cool and it must feel amazing for her to finally be with someone who has a strong interest in what she's doing. I'm an artist myself and I've dated/liked people who didn't care/like what I did, even when I'd send it and asked what they thought about it. And not gonna lie, I once fell for someone who had a shared interest with me and he really liked what I did, and it hurt to realize that we would never go beyond that. MountainMonster 721
Honestly, I don’t know him and I don’t have a strong opinion. My only thought on it all is that he’s credited like everywhere now. I’m not sure that’s appropriate for someone with no music background and also, if, god forbid, something bad happens and they break up - he’s owed royalties on everything MAYHEM and Harlequin related. I just think that’s a lot of legal entanglement that could be problematic for them if anything goes wrong. Plus, you know that would also mean she would never perform anything MAYHEM ever again. but, at the end of the day, gurl has better lawyers than me and it’s her life to entangle however she so chooses. vmpiregrn 992
I’m uncomfortable with how the accusations of him “controlling” her paints her. She is a strong, wealthy, influential woman. She is maybe like many of us, especially us women, in that she could be willing to make compromises she otherwise might not have for love. “I’m a loser in love…” But to say she’s being manipulated is just…insulting to her and her independence. She’s not a baby, nor is she a young woman trying to break through in an industry that is preying on her naïveté. She’s been at this for a long time. ultimately she is objectively the happiest and healthiest, physically and mentally, she has ever been, and it’s led to a renaissance in her career. I don’t know what else people want.
