Dope too I think at some point. She wrote “I Wanna Be With You” and she was getting pressured to have an Adele type of single so she made it very depressing and re-wrote it as Dope. 

It still was a promo single so it counts.

Because the radio hosts decide what they wanna play based on what they think is a trendy sound (or based on the money they receive from the labels/artists). 

Padam Padam is a perfect example of that. Or JOYRIDE. Or Harleys In Hawaii.

Ehhhhh I mean it was known he had peed on underage girls. Like even initial reviews of the song mentioned it was at minimum a little weird to have him on it. I think rather than not take it that seriously, it was more the public was kinda ok with letting him fade away and then DWUW threw him back in our faces again bc he wanted a comeback. Like if you were in Chicago it was like he’s persona nongrata. So so odd no one read that room better but then again this is the same industry that let r Kelly and diddy thrive  in the first place

 

mostly just shocked bc it’s also not like he was especially relevant at the time. Why didn’t the label try to push literally ANYONE more relevant onto that track??

I mean I don’t disagree with this and I don’t want her to change her style. But that doesn’t change the fact that that’s the reason why some of her music doesn’t stick to radio stations. That was my whole point, I’m not trying to tell people she needs to be more radio friendly, I’m explaining why her singles keep failing to have popularity on the radio.
