I don't think registering in itself is bad as long as it is made easy and accessible and free for everyone. The reason is, the US is huge. You have to register where you are going to vote because if you are a Texan you can't just decide to vote in Oklahoma's elections, or if you're in one county in Texas, you can't just decide on the day to go vote in another county's election because you think their county election is more important--you have to vote where you live because the ballot will be different. Now when it comes to the presidential election, I'd support theoretically anyone voting anywhere (and they CAN do absentee or mail in in some states, although republicans are trying to get rid of that), but in the US states are responsible for their own elections, including the election of the president. So it would just be logistically messy. I'm not saying there is not a better way, just trying to explain. 

the easier solution to that is you vote were you declared your residence, not anywhere else.

My point is that it should be automatic, again: the govenremnt already has all your data. Forcing people to register to exercise their rights is a) ridiculous b) perpetuating of social assymetry as @Roughhouse Dandy pointed out and c) seemingly desgined to discourage voting. Which on top of the democratic model the US uses, only works to devalue people's votes

Government does have all of your data.

But government does not and has never worked on a joined up level. Its throughly dysfunctional (on purpose really) which is why it doesn't make sense.

This is messy! 

Indiana doesn't have party registration like this exactly but you have to choose a party ballot when you go to the primary election. Indiana is so red I grab a R ballot just to vote again the worse evils. Democrats never have enough people running in those elections. .

 

I haven't voted R on a general election since I learned to vote outside of what my parents believe! Sometime before Trump.

 

Any chance she's doing the same thing? Not sure how it works in Florida

With the right tools, they can also see which, if any, primaries she voted in. So, sure, it's one thing to be registered as a Republican and then vote in the November general election where theoretically she could vote for Democrats, but if she's voting as a Republican as evidenced by which primary she votes in, then that's a whole nother thing. lol

And lets look at what they've used their platform for and what available information we have on them. 

One is a registered republican who's in an ad which many have pointed out the comparisions between it's messaging and eugenics. 
One is notoriously anti-man in her musical output and visual output (which goes against the Republican brand) and also while didn't endorse in the 2024 cycle did say in her first show after the 2024 election "Sorry about our country" and expressly singled out women in her audience for a message of positivity after the election.
