I’m starting the three faceless profiles defending this ad are the same person… lol

I would think the same, but they’re not :bradley:

Is the controversy suppose to generate a buzz for sales?  Why did they go this direction and who is their market?

Do your own research.

You thought you ate, but you’re sounding a little hungry. Need a Snickers, diva?

You go to insults and trying to sound cheeky and cute for likes because your argument is weak.

I don't understand why you have to be so annoying and rude when we have differences of opinions on an ad. It's childish as hell. Don't come in these threads if you can't be a grown up.

I mean, honestly the fact that you zeroed in on one “cheeky insult” and conveniently ignored literally everything else I said makes your argument look weaker, not mine. Also, for context: you immediately resorted to talking down and condescension when I suggested that a brand might use ragebaiting as an engagement tactic, so not really sure how you think were being particularly mature here lmao.

If you have zero historical knowledge and media literacy just say that.

Stay in school, kids!

Media literacy = people agreeing with me.

The blondies have you acting very bothered for some reason.:max:

why would I continue to engage with you in conversation when you've been nothing but sarcastic and rude to me? I've responded to you before and you've called me names, mocked things I've said, and dismissively "loled" at me for sharing my point of view.

I'm not dismissing the feelings of those who did feel hurt or insulted by the ad. My main point was that I don't believe illusions to nazism were done intentionally to create controversy, but that ad folks should be more educated before letting an ad like this go out to the public. From where I'm sitting, the ad came off as an uneducated choice rather than a strategically nazi'd one.

And you are totally fine to disagree! But now I'm just really bummed that this thread turned into an insult-fest rather than a convo. I hate how that happens on basically every serious thread here. It's such a bummer.

Again, you forthright dismissed what I originally said and I never once “called you names.” It’s fine that you disagree, but you legit scoffed at the idea that advertisers would ever try to provoke people for attention and were dismissive and obtuse any time anyone brought up any examples that didn’t fit that narrative. If anything, you’ve actually called me more names (“childish,” “rude,” “annoying”) than I have toward you at any point in this thread.

I can own that I was being a bit mocking and sarcastic, but only because I thought you were being fairly condescending and obtuse. It reached a point where, tbh, I wasn’t taking what you were saying seriously because it felt like you were purposefully evading a point that multiple people were making to you.

I apologize that I was dismissive of your first response. I found your rhetorical question phrasing and "lol" at the end to be dismissive of my thoughts, like I sounded so stupid to you that it was laughable; that I was a joke. That really stung me, and I'm really sorry I categorized you with those insults in response.

I genuinely didn't come into this thread trying to condescend or invalidate the feelings of those who were offended by the ad, or obtusely push my thoughts as the "correct" ones. They're not. They're just my opinions, and I like to hear others. Hell, even though I wasn't offended by the ad personally, I now think they should take it down and be embarrassed by what they've caused. These threads have the power to evolve my opinions, and I like that.

And like, we've got other folks in this thread claiming racism in the US doesn't even exists... at least neither of us are saying stuff like THAT :fail:

If anything, I intended the “lol” as a way to lighten the tone as opposed to coming across as mocking, so apologies for any misunderstanding there :holdmyhand:
