You must be real fun at parties... 7 hours ago, Hadrian said: It's possible that "the lady in red" is like a dark side of herself that's been brewing since the Born This Way era, or even as early as when she called herself and her sister(?) Mistresses of Mayhem in that one post. A lot of artists allude to concepts in their artistic toolboxes long before they become fully-fleshed out concepts. Reveal hidden contents I'm only saying this because I've recently become a lyricist and the color purple has become this for me; it started out as a random color reference but now it's a full lore-filled reference to a catastrophic event that changed my outlook on my life. I hope I'm not taking this thread too seriously, I love lore and world-building in artists' lyrics This makes me wonder if the "how can I protect something so perfect without evil" scene in the BTW video is related Anyways, to respond to both of you: I obviously do not believe that what we see in the MTN video IS the same character as the current Lady in Red, BUT, like you said Hadrian, is not rare for artists to come up with concepts that they dont develop fully until much later. Gaga is a very imaginative artist who comes up with a lot of ideas that she sometimes ends up putting aside, or that she ends up scrapping last second like the original The Edge of Glory music vid. Didnt she just recently say that the Abracadabra MV is similar to what her original concept for the Bad Romance MV was going to be? Maybe the AngelGa Vs EvilGa concept was there since then... The Mistresses of Mayhem tweet in 2014 is a huge clue for me that she did have some Mayhem concepts back in the day, even if only subconsciously. And, the BTW era was also the only time where she explored the idea of "alter-egos", with Jo and Yuyi, and I would be surprised if at some point during those days, she didnt also consider making an "evil" alter ego to represent her own dark side. (Its not like its a groundbreaking concept anyway), but most likely she might have felt that an evil character wouldnt really fit the BTW era. (Although she did include it in some way, with Mother G.O.A.T hunting her at the BTWBall). I can hear Gaga saying something like "I realized that the Lady in Red was always there with me from the start, like a presence behind my back that I was afraid to face" tbh So yeah of course I believe her explanation for the one in the MTN video, and I dont believe that the current Lady in Red was truly a fully fledged thing back then, dont be so dense -_-, but its Gaga we are talking about, it is not a stretch to think that an evil alterego is a concept that has been in the back of her head for a while now and that we might have seen glimpses of them at some points. Sneaky Oliver 22,182
Sorry to be that guy but the duality/ dueling twins concept is not new in the Gagaverse, it’s kind of a reused concept actually, we saw that with Gaga x Mother GOAT, Lady Gaga x Joanne the country singer, Gaga x Enigma simulation and there’s probably more. the Lady In Red/Mistress of Mayhem is just another example of how she expresses her split personality and the mayhem inside of her I don’t think they are all the same character but definitely they’re rooted in the same idea, it’s definitely a reoccurring theme in her art that we get to see through different lenses each time

And if you are going to try to use Gaga's words against me, at least make sure she hasn't also said something that disagrees with your entire rethoric here that only she decides what stuff means: "I love so much seeing them dissect what things mean, sometimes they are just so dead-on, and other times theyll find meaning in it that I didnt even know it was there, and I think thats cool too, because I think sometimes when you are creating, you put stories into your work, and you dont even realize you are doing it. Its just like showing up, and its there, and sometimes you are aware of it and sometimes you are not so, I really like seeing what they see" 4:27 So she loves seeing fans finding new meanings and new stories in her work, and encourages it. Taumaturg0 560
I know it's not a serious thread... but it is interesting that this imagery has been in her head for this long and has been refined conceptually to the point of an almost fully fleshed character representing the inner turmoil she's now willing to embrace and rebirth from that... which circles back to the phoenix imagery. I'm not high, but I did just finish my tarot homework
