cus women are literally losing rights

What does her song have to do with that? Like I said, art is not supposed to taken literally... we could cancel any singer if we start taking lyrics literally (Gaga included)

I've listened to this and a few other songs from her new album and her style is certainly unique but not necessarily in a good way. I like the mixture of the old and the new with 60's beats and trap, she's obviously hugely inspired by Lana and she can sing quite well but her lyrics need serious work. What's really disturbing is that she's only 20 and she's singing about very adult topics that she can apparently relate to meaning that she must have done a whole lot of stuff underage if that's the case. She's even miming sipping from a wine bottle in a visualiser even though she's not old enough to drink. Throw in the fact she stands 4'11 in her bare feet and you have the look and sound of someone who's almost like a child and it makes me concerned about why this image is being pushed. I haven't watched this infamous video as I have this weird thing where I don't like signing into YouTube to let it know I'm over 18 but from these comments, it involves graphic sex scenes and even includes a child just before one of them and it's freaking people out. In addition to the stuff I just mentioned, we're in a very concerning place in the music industry. At a time when women are so disrespected online and in real life, do we really need this kind of music and image, satire or not? Most of the public wouldn't know satire if it hit them in the face anyway, they're streaming this song for the rude parts.

I watched the video only because a youtuber made a fuss about it, I had no idea who she was, and... the clip is giving "gen-z artist trying to be provocative", there's nothing there :laughga:. I'm ok with artists using delicate subjects as metaphors, when the message is interesting, and the delivery is smart. But I don't think it's the case here :ladyhaha:

Instead of "I'm 12 and this is deep", this feels like "I'm 12 and this is cynical". Like, I get it gurl, you want to be seen as this no fvcks given, intellectual gworl, but it just looks a little dumb, IDK :icant:. Even the whole Sabrina thing was MUCH better executed than this, it's giving Lana from Temu :huntyga:

1 -When has Gaga ever written an antifemale rights lyric or something even remotely close??

2-We have cancelled people because they slipped one bad word sometimes decades before, why wouldnt we cancel someone who is actively, currently doing something ****ed up and exposing people to it?

3- "Art is not supposed to be taken literally"... sure, in a perfect world. But like it or not, when kids become fans of certain artists, they do see them as role models and often build their own personalities and moralities around them. Should it be this way? No, but that doesnt change the fact that it is this way.

Also wanted to point out that the video shouldn't even be allowed on YouTube as there's literal p**n in it. The site's never allowed that but always had a double standard when it comes to celebrities making sexual content vs regular people doing the same thing but considering the site's owned by Google, they can't be doing this. People are getting code violations for swearing or showing a dog peeing and then they allow someone to make a video like this and it's ok because they're famous. Even though it is age restricted, people were pointing out it didn't come into effect until 5 days after release and kids have been making accounts pretending to be 18 since the site started (hell, even I did that and I was 17 at the time!) Yes, there's a kids section but let's face it, most kids will consider that corny and just want to use the regular one adults use as that's cooler. Add in that there's a child just before this scene and things really get concerning. That's what most people are annoyed about.

That's exactly it. She's trying to be Lana so bad but a more modernised, hip hop version and it's executed terribly. Her whole image is that of the cool girl but she's doing it too immaturely and naively. Her voice is really like indie rock singer, Kelsy Karter (this song even reminds me a little bit of one of her songs in the chorus) and she even looks a lot like her but again, not as good or well developed of a talent.

20 may be an adult (though not one old enough to drink yet she does that) but your brain doesn't fully develop until you're 25 and boy, does it show here. "I might get a little slap slap but at least you won't hit me on Snapchat" is a line so shocking my mind didn't even comprehend the horror of it initially. The way she compares abusive situations (domestic violence, age gap relationships) to online requests for booty calls and driving away before she's got in the door (which sound so minor by comparison) and presents the abusive situations as the lesser of 2 evils is crazy work. She's way too young to already be this cynical, it's like she's cosplaying as someone older and just copying the music she grew up with. I mean, she sings a song about a strip club but admitted in a Genius interview that she's actually never been to one.

Idk, satire about this in this era is not a good look.

At the same time though, this song and Sabrina Carpenters album cover serve as good representations of female Trump supporters.

Your point doesn't make sense, especially given the content of the video.

also, grow up, talking about role models lol this isn't disney channel, you sound like an angry parent complaining about miley cyrus' behavior in 2008...

The only person that needs to grow up in this thread is the person defending ****ed up behaviour. But you do you.
