Correct me if I’m wrong, but based on the numbers we have, here’s my estimation Gaga’s top 6 best selling albums after 5 months of release:

 

1. Born This Way / ~8M

2. MAYHEM / ~6.2M

3. The Fame Monster (solo) / ~5.8M

4. A Star Is Born / ~4M

5. The Fame (excluding 🇨🇦´s early release) / ~3.5M

6. ARTPOP / ~2.4M

 

We’re doing great!  It doesn’t feel like we’re doing THAT great ´cause the times are different and the music industry and consuming don’t work the same way, but damn, I didn’t realize how hard MAYHEM is smashing.

I know you’re kidding but truthfully yes, you’re right.
 

However MAYHEM still did very good on its own (over 2M units in 5 months) and after all it’s not like DWAS was released a whole year before the album and was added to it, it was released just before Disease. 
 

2M units with one single promoted properly is more than good, especially 17 years into a woman’s career 

It’s doing as good as ARTPOP. That album was considered a flop at the time because it was the narrative the media and the GP wanted to push, but in fact it did very good and she was VERY relevant back in the day. So MAYHEM achieving that 12 years later without DWAS is quite an achievement.

And either way, did II Most Wanted pull a DWAS? How many collabs managed to do that recently? Spoiler: approximately none. So we can’t consider DWAS was a super easy tactic.

Re: the blood records exclusive vinyl - blood records is UK based (if memory serves me correct) so will the sales from this version count towards the home country they’re purchased from or the country in which they’re being shipped to?
