But… and I say this with love, as I love her… her image was ENTIRELY manufactured for her even before her conservatorship. And her image also wasn’t original it was built off of artists like Madonna and Janet (especially Janet)

I mean she’s neither original nor a doll really. (That’s reserved for trans girls.)

I do think she’s iconic, but she’s very much a Disney kid who became a megastar. Sometimes I think even she forgets that it seems lol

I will say … and I say this with appreciation, as I appreciate you … that she was able to inherit and translate that image globally, from literal Mississippi … is something admittedly unheard of before and since … Oprah might be the only Mississippi native more globally renowned … it seems trivial until you‘ve been that deep in the Delta backwater, and contextualize the gravity of the lyric “I don‘t know the language, but they know my name here …”

But … again, this is just vantage from my perspective … which is quite niche and subjective … and, admittedly, a proper member of the TRLdren Generation of Middle Class Clinton Era Tweenager Millennial Americans

....& more that her's was *good* lmao

Tate can dance like no one's business

I mean… in all fairness beyond her singles Britney’s albums pre-blackout were ATROCIOUS musically. Filler after filler.

It was just a reference to her unfinished album/demos called The Original Doll back in 2004 :huntyga:

The singles were 10/10 but the album tracks were just awful. But we don’t care for her because of her album tracks. She’s a singles artist like Rihanna for instance.

To be fair it’a a symptom of the 2000s in general. Almost all the pop albums in the 2000s had excellent singles but terrible album tracks.

You're not wrong about her album tracks

But still, Britney's early singles are leagues... LEAGUES ahead of anything Tate has pushed

Sometimes it is a generational disconnect & I will admit I just "don't get it" ... but I feel like it is fair to say that Tate's music simply is not as interesting/replayable/distinctive as Britney's big songs (again, talking early Britney because, in fairness, Tate is still just starting out)

There was a reason early Britney caught (& then kept) people's attention.. & yes a big part of it was the sexualized image... but more importantly/enduring was the fact that her music was so ****ing catchy & irresistible

I don't think the same can be said about Tate's efforts
