Well, Gaga has a much smaller fan base (partly due to her release gaps being much wider), she releases music that is far less palpable for the GP and honestly doesn't seem to care about charts in the slightest. So IDK if it's fair, but it's definitely logical.

I feel like there is a whole part of the population that just apreciates music better when they can specifically identify to it through the lyrics and in some case, like the 2 girls from the reaction video, they prefer it when they're also able to sing it. These people see music above all as a relatable art, and streaming has somehow inflated this sentiment bc now music is 24/7 a part of people's life, they can now listen to full album and any artist's whole discography whenever and wherever they are. So they need to have an artist to accompany them on their day to day life, and taylor is just perfect for that for a very specific part of the population, usually (not always) young white girls. What taylor talks about in her songs, is essentially very basic themes that anyone could relate to (love, relationships, insecurities, self questioning...). Also there's no big bold production in her songs, taylor's music since 1989 is a very safe, clean pop formula that has never really changed, while people are usually deranged by over the top productions, wich makes the songs even more relatable.

The reason why taylor's music sound so blend and uninteresting to many of us, is exactly the same why it is so popular to others :trollga:

Also probably why so many of us don't relate to Taylor but very much relate to Gaga. She is the queen of the weirdos and outcast

I mean DWAS is looking to be the biggest song of the year and in the top 5 biggest songs of all time. She definitely does care about charts, just not as craven as some of the tactics that Taylor Swift uses or Katy Perry did back during the Teenage Dream/Prism era. However, collaborating with Ariana and Black Pink on Chromatica as well as Max Martin for her lead single were definitely choices designed for success. Starring in a sequel to a Billion box office grossing film as well as making an original song and guest appearance in one of Netflix’s Top shows are definitely rooted in wanting mainstream success. The difference for Gaga and say Taylor is Gaga likes trying to push the boundaries of Pop Culture and what is acceptable in terms of sound, message, visuals, fashion, etc. Her trying to strike that balance has always been the hardest part for her and there are miscalculations. Other times they gain respect much further in the future. Also, her choosing to do things such as halting her promo for Chromatica and its singles to do a fundraising concert for Covid lockdowns, letting BLM use her socials due to George Floyd’s death the same week ROM and Chromatica released, or campaigning for Biden. Those decisions reaffirm my decision to be a fan of hers.

Personally speaking, I’ve listened to most of Taylor’s albums. There’s a collection of a few songs off of each album that I enjoy. Her music is safe and relatable but has resonated strongly with some people, especially young women. If her music has helped people heal or had a positive impact on their life then I’m not going to knock them or her for that. I don’t love her but I don’t hate her either. She’s occasionally had some impressive moments in terms of songwriting, sound directions, and it takes talent, resilience, and good instincts to be this popular at this stage of her career on her 12th album. Gaga and her have shown mutual respect and admiration for each other. She isn’t a greatest vocalist, can’t dance well, and plays things safe but she does have a strong work ethic and can write a song with a good hook. As for this album, I think it’s time for her to explore a different sound. This album doesn’t seem that significant of a change from the same music she has released her entire career for better or for worse.

With 1 week remaining for the 2025 year chart, DWAS sits comfortably as the #1 song of 2025, even if it goes recurrent next week, Poker Face has got her revenge

When it comes to radio and Gaga you literally can’t call a song dead till it’s getting -1M updates for days in a row because her songs are so bipolar on US radio.

We thought Applause and Abracadabra were done several times and they’d start rising again
