For those mentioning it, Gaga did do flying props for Enigma ("Just Dance" when she entered the theatre by flying down, and "Paparazzi" in the flying basket thingie). They're fun and are a great way for people in the balcony seats to get close to the artist, but when they malfunction, it's scary and dangerous. Glad Katy and everyone else was okay.

This. Flying is mostly meant to be a way to bring the artist closer to the nosebleeds and the whole audience so everyone feels they get a good closeup moment with the artist. It’s a nice thing for artists to do.

Pink was literally dragged off the stage from the side in Germany so she has definitely had her issues too.

I said less not zero.

That was also the last tour she had any major incident with a stunt. A stunt she has been doing for 15 years at this point.

She's has had plenty of wear and tear injuries since.

But as someone who has followed her for 20 years, I can confidently say that P!nk has had less issues with her aerial stunts than her colleagues.

And the most likely reason for that is that she approaches it from the view point of athleticism and previous gymnastics experience. Where as a lot of other artists, especially atm, are just bolting stunts onto their show for the first time.

Keeps seeming to happen

Did it ever happen with Gaga's flying thing at Enigma?

Katy is very athletic. She can do the splits and the trapeze part of her show where she flips and simulates running through the air is very impressive.

She's just basically sitting on the butterfly, that part has nothing to do with " athleticism and previous gymnastic experience". The prop just malfunctioned.

I am not saying Katy is not athletic.

And you seem incapable of reading a post from start to finish.

The reason P!nk started incorporating aerial stunts into her sets, and the reason I brought up athleticism and gymnastics, is that P!nk was a gymnast growing up. She already had the skillset in her repertoire. She's been doing silks on tour since 2004. Her core strength is insane - as others have pointed out she trains singing while having people stood on her.

The reason I bring this up is it means that she approaches the implementation of these sets from a gymnast's stance not just as a performer.

Comparatively, Katy who has had issues with a number of her aerial props on a single tour has way less experience that she brings.

That experience is, as I originally said, a likely major contributor into why a lot of acts including KP have more issues than P!nk with these set pieces. P!nk has more personal knowledge and experience to bring to designing these moments in a show vs most of her compatriots, and she has a core team around her who have been there for 20 odd years at this point all clued in on designing and staging these moments. All of that factors into why - as many people were discussing in this thread - P!nk has significantly less misshaps with aerial choreo and stunts.

At least the playback is still functioning

Stupid comment as she is clearly singing live here.

It has nothing to do with "personal knowledge". If something malfunctions, it malfunctions.

Neither Katy or Pink have any control over the wires holding these things in place.
