NUTELLA 8,781
Pretends to be shocked! Shame on CBS. He has been a sanity-saver for the past 10 years. I hope he finds a new home quickly. Edited July 18 by NUTELLA
Phoenix Rises 953
He was there for the first term and covid, It's because he criticized the Cbs settlement with Trump monday, and never backed down speaking the truth about Cheeto hitler. It was probably in the terms of the settlement IMO. This is what Dictators do. It just got a Emmy nomination!! And they say its for financial reasons. I hope Amazon or Netflix picks him up. Franch Toast 26,804
The fact that this is happening in American media is chilling. Criticize dear leader and get the axe. She/Her/Hers 5 1

SevenWonder 4,318
My guess this is just the start. Sure, they'll blame ratings or how the late night talk show is dying in general, but Colbert is the highest rated out of all of them and makes the network a ton of money. Truth is, the US is now a soft dictatorship - something I never thought I'd see. 11

onionring 496
Stephen will be fine. Shitty move, and Paramount heads are spinless cowards but Colbert's coming out of this with a win, honestly his comedy style took a dip working for a major network, he'll get a much better gig whether it be financially or artisticly fulfilling. What I think is more devastating honestly (other than manipulative extortion of the trump admin) is that they're ending The Late Show and presumably closing the Ed Sullivan theater. This feels historic for all the sad reasons nothing bittersweet about it, cancelling the most viewed late night show on air is a nail to the coffin of an already fading format, this just makes it feel real in a way and it's really sad. The format was a staple for me personally growing up (still to an extent) and historically is so engraved in pop culture. I tell you what tho the next 10 months are gonna be Conan-leaving-NBC level of unhinged fun 3

Would love that.
Emvee 8,357
He needs a new platform anyway. The late night show shtick is kinda cringe

This part. No matter if you like him or not, this is what we need to open our eyes to. By his eye. I have no doubt some where else will snatch him up. Hopefully a production company that doesn’t care about Trump. she/her/hers
