To be fair, "the world" is faster decoupling from the US than we did from China in the last 10-15 years.

And to be fair, Trumps policies long term will do the exact opposite of what he wants. Increased protectionism will reduce Americas influence globally not increase it. It will also reduce the Dollars global relevance if less trade is being done in it

 

His ego may enjoy flexing his muscles now (because America is big and powerful) but long term hes just burrying America in a hole and reducing its global foot print

 

It will remain a large and influential economy and power. But smaller and weaker relative to the world as a whole than it has been in the past and up till now
