I feel like some Europeans believe that bringing these countries closer to the EU's sphere of influence will boost the rights and liberties of Eastern citizens and some Europeans believe that the Eastern countries just bring crime. My mother, who's German, seems to be pretty against all of it, saying these people are moving to established EU countries and causing crime because their countries are poor. Meanwhile most of Eastern European countries have lower crime rates than most od Western countries. I'm not having fun tonight.
