Every time Gaga's said something about real issues recently it's been adjacent to either her getting an award or her promoting her work. It makes her statements feel incidental. "I'm here to talk about my new album Mayhem, but lemme also throw a bone to the gays" "I'm here to tell you all about the new Haus Labs promo, but lemme also say I love the queer community so this promo is only for pride month" "I'm here to accept this award for mine and Bruno's song but lemme also say trans people exist" It's my biggest frustration with her lately. Maybe I'm just being cynical and someone else would say "well, she didn't have to mention the queer community at all but she tries to whenever she can" and that's a valid viewpoint but after her silence during the 2024 election it's just not one I personally believe anymore. Anyway, Lana just said this with no other motive, no other real goal, other than to remind people that it's happening and put out hopes for a positive solution in the future. Nobody expects celebrities to solve the world's problems but when you have a platform it's important to use it for the right causes. Keeping the genocide in Gaza fresh in people's minds is a good thing. People can criticize how she does it but at least she does it. She could do more, we all could. I don’t see an issue with her mentioning trans rights at the Grammys, after all it’s a major televised event where her platform is more clear than ever? To me it seems like you always try to pick apart her politics and advocacy. Sure she’s not as outspoken as she used to be but who is? Also silence on the election wrong as she informed people to vote way before and also campaigned for Kamala and spoke about the aftermath in an interview.
elsamars 3,595
She did more than 95% of the “artists” out there and some people here still calling her names and critiquing her, hilarious

They have little to zero influence on ending wars. Demand it from your elected officials instead of asking for performative activism from your favourite celebs. No exactly. I don't really care that much to hear their opinions on these things and would much rather see it talked about in actual political settings. And their Influence is finite, if someone is the type of person to act on something just because a pop star tells you to or need some sort of validation that they agree with you in order to be content in yourself then maybe... idk they might be the problem?

Gaga gets asked this question on her IG posts all the time and she doesn't give a **** obviously. She literally said 'pray for Palestine' and just like I mentioned above, she's at least informed of the situation and it has been that way since she cancelled her gig in Israel. So I'll take it. I don't expect any of the pop girls or celebrities (unless you're Marcia Cross or Susan Sarandson) to dedicate their pages to Palestine or go to protests, but someone with apparent influence on her fans can make a difference. If it wasn't important, it wouldn't cause all this fuss. Nah don’t be so naive, it’s Lana lol The sentence “One second I’m praying for Gaza and suddenly the Zionist is me”fits her well lol So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

I take issue with the years long fight being reduced to a few seconds long platitude sandwiched between thanking her billionaire boyfriend and Bruno Mars for writing another cheesy love song. If she wasn't handed a trophy that night she wouldn't have said anything. And no, saying "make sure you vote" in July and then singing at a piano for three minutes on the eve of the election don't count as "campaigning for Kamala". She never even said the woman's name afaik. I don't care about her reflections on the election 'cause she did f*ck all to change the outcome. Plenty of artists are outspoken about what matters to them. Gaga used to be but now she's reserved to the point that she'll only speak if spoken to. I used to care but I don't anymore really she's simply not that woman now. Which is fine, it's her choice, I respect it. Plenty of people are willing to do the work while she stays happy in her bubble making music for us to dance to while our rights are stripped away. I think thats just assumptions, however she did also mention transgender rights last year in regards to the post with Dylan Mulvaney. However i will say i think your judgement might be the best if you are a fan of michael jackson who was a predator and for some reason people still seem to be in complete denial about it. There it is The "I have no argument so have this random take on an irrelevant topic" Congrats, you sure showed me I totally can't have an opinion on Lady Gaga not using her platform effectively if I like Michael Jackson You win I can't wait until the Mayhem Ball starts so I can take my three months hiatus from this place. I swear some of y'all get stupider by the day. You're stinky

Calling someone stupid just shows your maturity level, however you being a Michael Jackson fan has everything to do with this as it’s clear your judgements are questionable at best. Anyways if I thought she was a hollow capitalist who only speaks on issues when it’s important to her I wouldn’t be a moderator on a fan site for her but that’s just me.

Jakesnyders673 75
Are there any big pop stars besides Dua Lipa and Rihanna who have publicly sided with the Palestinians?
