For my own sanity I'll assume she assumed it was a letter in support of the Jewish community, not in support of Israel.

She didn't sign the letter, but she was mentioned there among Rihanna, Paul McCartney and others who had concerts in Israel and CCFP supported them against the BDS.

That letter in 2022 was in support of an Israeli dance troupe at Sydney Festival that BDS pushed to boycott/remove from the festival and whoever signed it, saw it as attack against art.

But again, Gaga did not sign the letter, they name dropped her in an article ABOUT the letter.

It's so predictable that the public never let celebrities win in this situation. If they don't say anything, they apparently don't care and that's bad. And if they do say something, even if it's what the public want to hear, they apparently didn't say enough or didn't say it right and that's bad too. It's even speculated that these celebrities aren't donating to any relief causes even though there's no evidence of this and charity shouldn't be public anyway. Gaga's silence on political matters makes total sense in this climate. She's preferring to take the route of lesser criticism by not saying anything because then there's less to criticise if you're giving nothing. Celebrities can't do s**t to end serious conflicts. They have power and influence in people's music listening habits but that's it. They have no sway whatsoever when it comes to politics and war. Only privileged people in the West believe they do. Military personnel and world leaders makes all the decisions and have all the power and the sooner we all grow up and wake up to this harsh but nonetheless real reality, the better.

Yes, I agree completely. Meanwhile straight male artists & problematic people like Nicki Minaj get away with everything (notice how no one is outraged that Kendrick, Benson Boone, Nicki etc. haven't said anything). I don't even mean this in a whataboutism stan thing. High profile people often end up drawing a target on themselves by advocating for issues if they're not saying or handling things perfectly, and in a timely manner, whereas if you never did anything good in the first place, you're kind of allowed to do whatever without much complaint. It reminds me of the argument that occurred earlier in this thread: Mod rants a bit about the lack of activism by Gaga, then someone else comes along pointing out that they stan a man who had pedo allegations. If you are moral and vocal about one subject, people expect you to be moral and vocal about more, or all subjects tbh.
