My theory is the “broken” part of the stage was actually supposed to be for her to fly Volantis from one side of the gap to the other. Obviously, I have absolutely no proof of that or even any indication, but I think it would’ve been cool. lol

I like this concept and I had always wondered what it meant. Looking at it with fresh eyes it could very well be her right hip that's broken and disconnected on the legs making up the catwalks of the stage.

In all fairness though, Madonna did show photos of (possibly her) fractures during Like a Virgin at the Confessions tour. This was in reference to her horse riding accident the year prior. I wouldn't be surprised if Lady Gaga had an idea like this at one point.
