SharkmanthaC 115,045 Posted July 1, 2025 Share Posted July 1, 2025 As a Disney Cruise Line ship returned to a Florida port following a trip to the Bahamas, a father raced to rescue his daughter after she fell overboard June 29, according to multiple passengers onboard. “A little girl fell overboard and her dad jumped overboard to try to save her,” passenger Dewayne Smith wrote on Facebook after the incident. “Man overboard calls went up immediately. The Disney crew went into action asap. I’m sure some people hesitate to take cruises because of it but seems like a small percentage of the amount of people taking cruises. I’d assume a good many of the people that go overboard are likely drunk as well so I guess it does make sense, but still so jarring. Open water is so scary to me. Disney cruises alone service millions of guests a year. If they've only managed to have 212 people go overboard over the last decade, and even managed to rescue a quarter of them, that's damned impressive. The odds of going overboard are suuuuper low but once you’re in the water, it’s not looking good 😅 Such an impressive recovery by the Disney team though. I definitely would not be able to tread water 20 mins in the open ocean so I’ve gotta give that man his props too!
