nah I'm just saying Mayhem is probably her first solo era since BTW that people outside the stan world are aware of

so acting like they are used to better is actually funny to me

idk the JWT wasn't sold out on stans alone and she had one of the most watched superbowls, rain on me was pretty big too and lets not pretend ASIB doesn't count, the music was huge and she was bagging every award

(and the GP for sure recognises Applause lol)

mother, what must i do?

I said "solo era" it does not mean ASIB doesn't count, I was specifically talking about her studio albums (the LGs, not including soundtracks and jazz projects)

after her first 3 albums, she should be able to sell out a tour on her name alone

we can be real about this, when was the last time you saw people who don't stan her, of all ages talking about her music like they did with Abracadabra?

last year, when 2 kids were dancing and singing bloody mary at my job, who weren't even born when the song was released :enigma:

gaga is more relevant than you wish to believe, i fear

she managed to have a sold out residency without a supporting album (before chromatica dropped)

This era is just another album cycle cut short by poor (or no) planning and poor execution. Of course the music is good and we can definitely look forward to the tour but the disappointment is that we all know we could have had much more. But well, it isn't a gaga era if it's not botched one way or another right?

I think justifying the lack of releasing music videos and post album singles as how the music industry works in 2025 is rather shortsighted. Gaga is a visual artist. Pushing singles help with streams which in turn helps sales and allow the album to stay afloat on the charts. Penny wise, pound foolish.

After all these years, we are still asking her for telephone part 3 which is never going to happen because of 3 words put into the telephone music video. And where did the mistress of mayhem aesthetic which is the face of the Mayhem album comes from? The music videos. It helps build lore into her legacy.

“Poor or no planning” when she put on one of the most iconic Coachella shows of all time and broke records with the largest attendance for a standalone concert in history in Rio is wild

 a song from BTW...

with all the hits she's got up to that point including worldwide smashes, if she couldn't have a sold out residency it would be crazy

I am not saying she was irrelevant but this is her biggest and most eventful era in ages, it's not even an opinion it's a fact

- most acclaimed

- career defining performances that got her compared to Beyoncé (and you know how much critics ADORE her)

- a smash song that rival smash hits she got when she was just blowing up

- a solo dance hit song which I did not think possible given what's trendy nowadays

- gonna outstream every single album except TF (+M)

- her biggest tour starting soon

I mean

flavor of love wtf GIF

of course gaga isn't the only one, singles are rapidly becoming a dated format, especially post album ones and even more so if the artist is an established mainstream act :messga:

financially, there's no point in having another single from mayhem unless a track actually organically takes off (eg BOAF) because they already made a tonne of money from the tour :messga:

streaming is killing music and labels are greedy :messga:

I also don’t understand this whole “it’s her team’s narrative”? Like if that’s the case, are Billies team falling short? Same with Ariana or Beyoncé? Because they don’t perform or promote their music? Like it seems to me this fan base is Gaga’s harshest critic.

This era is like a 7 course meal at a high end restaurant. We just finished the 5th course and they were all absolutely delicious and fantastic, we are starting to get stuffed. But for some reason the waiters have decided to just disappear for hours now, so while I've satisfied with my 5 courses, there's still 2 more courses left to finish off this meal... BUT WHERE ARE THEY

When I saw you for the very first time Looked like Fred Astaire, drinking your red wine

an album track from BTW that made chart noise and impact in 2020s, not 2011 :samanthac: you can't keep moving the goal posts girl

gaga has been big in every era and whilst mayhem has been her biggest in a whole, chromatica would have been just as huge too if the world didn't shut down

I've been sticking to the same point since the beginning tbh she had opportunities to remind people who she is (like Oscar performances, the superbowl ones) but things sure as hell weren't like they were pre-ARTPOP but with time she worked her way back up, and finally got the treatment she actually deserves (17 years after her debut btw!)

I don't do shouda/coulda/wouldas, I just stick to what actually happened!

It baffles me a little how artists and labels are not seeing that post album releases and promotion helps in building the artist's legacy and feeds the fanbases which will benefit both the artist and labels in the long run. But money i suppose.

Because legacy and giving back to fans is irrelevant to a business.
There's a reason a lot of older acts have started doing album boxsets & greatest hits/anniversary tours suddenly post covid. And its also why new acts aren't being supported (generally) and cut the second they don't take off.

Re-releasing physicals for acts with older fans is just printing money - the only cost outlay is essentially production costs of the physicals.
And touring has never been more profitable before. Why bother investing in a new artist, spend millions creating a platform and cultivating a fanbase when you can send out a pre-existing act on an anniversary tour and make millions without any need to invest in creating an era.

you guys really log in and just say whatever

this era had plenty of planning and execution, you're just jaded for some reason cus it's not an exact replica of pre-BTW promo (which was an entirely different industry back then)

Ok, saying that's its poorly or not planned is harsh, I'm sorry. But no, I did not just come in just to say whatever I like. I've read through many threads just like this before. Everything that she has done, it's really great I genuinely think so and I'm sure many of us think so to. But it's always about the possibilities, of which Mayhem has proven that are more to explore, be it in single potential or visuals. I'm sure many fans feel this way, that's why we are having this question in the first place isn't it?

Of course, to be fair, I don't think she actually promised us an "era". We just took it upon ourselves to mean it this way.
