Firefighters Shot, Killed in 'Ambush'

Two firefighters were shot dead Sunday evening while battling a fire in North Idaho. 

Officials described the scenes as both dangerous and still active, with International Association of Firefighters president Edward Kelly saying the crew was "ambushed in a heinous act of violence." 

Idaho Gov. Brad Little posted on social media urging residents to avoid the area of the brush fire in Couer d'Alene.

Apparently the fire itself was intentionally set solely as a means to lure in, and subsequently ambush, the firefighters via gunfire.

Literally speechless. Firefighters are HEROES why on earth would anyone want to harm them

Yeah, I was hoping this wasn’t the case, but per that NBC link:

“Fire was intentionally set as part of an ambush, authorities say.

The fire that drew first responders to Canfield Mountain was no accident, officials from Idaho’s Northern Lakes Fire District said.

Firefighters responded to an intentionally set fire before being shot at, they said, adding that ‘ambush’ accurately describes what happened to those first at the scene.

A federal official who asked not to be identified echoed preliminary indications that it was an ambush-style attack.”

Considering the fire was reported at 1:30 pm, and now some 7 hours later, there is STILL rapid fire from an unknown number of active shooters who remain hiding in the mountains/forest, it appears this was well planned. 

Edit: One minute after posting this, it appears the shooter was finally found and was already deceased. That was like 7 hours of gunfire, though, AND the fire is still burning (and several firefighters are dead).

I have a feeling that he's a MAGA because normal people wouldn't shot a firefighter... that's literally the first time in my life that I hear about firefighters being killed or harmed by other people

I'm not gonna go into details here, but give a quick google search to the area in which this took place in and I think you'll find your answer for why this happened and what kind of individual did it. It's sort of a notorious hotbed for a very specific kind of person.

From what I gather, this shooter started a forest fire, to draw in first responders for an ambush, then shoots the fire fighters when they try to calm the fire. Authorities are now gathering evidence and try to find out his motive. The fire so far have spreads over 20 acres of land or about 11 soccer fields.

May the deceased rest in peace. Condolences and sympathy to the families of those who have been killed or injured, and to emergency services personnel everywhere. Those people are basically the best of us. It was an appalling thing to do.
