Summer songs used to be songs from foreign countries that people took back home with them after going on a holiday. Nowadays it's just some cheap pop song that get pushed from America that becomes a "summer hit". Despacito feels like the last real summer hit, but maybe I'm forgetting some. For some reason, while both successful, just did not amass that huge "everyone knows this song" perception at the levels previous years did. Its also the first time I have seen songs from previous years carry over to the new year. Half the top 10 are songs from 2024 who had massive longevity. You can’t possibly predict everything, things change constantly. Besides Gaga already had a massive hit with DWAS and Abra so not every single needs to be a guaranteed mega hit.
