Ladle Ghoulash 22,507
Not sure I’d really call it “techno pop” lol. Even Gaga’s part of the song has a 90s pop RNB flavor with a touch of disco. We have forgotten our public MANNERS

HeavyCapiLover 3,523
You can tell bey did NOT want to lose her artistic identity by jumping on that electronic/dance pop wave in the early 2010's like so many other RnB/rock/hip hop mainstrean singers did at the time. She knew it would make her not be taken as seriously as an artist as she is now, and would just be seen as a commercial act, rather than a musical legend. She did modernize her sound with the album Sasha Fierce and then Run the world as the lead for 4 by a adding a pop electronc element to it, but always stayed true to her roots. She managed in a very clever way to artistically evolve through this era of music and stay relevant, as the mainstream sound changed drastically. Thats something that gaga could not do in the mid/late 2010s, instead she just said **** it and sang a complete different genre of music of what she was used to do. VTV 12,799
I can see where Bey is coming from. The final solo demo really sounds bland imo compared to RedOne tracks. She's just being too nice. The redo really saved it. PS: i didnt know her official YT uploaded a solo album version of Telephone during pandemic titled Telephone (w/o Beyonce) Edited 4 hours ago by VTV 1

I think the Britney Spears demo is probably closer to what it was before then: It's not THAT different, but you can still hear the changes between this and the final product for sure. The entire Beyoncé verse is notably missing and that had a totally different flow/vibe and production too. It is interesting that Beyoncé allegedly was like "this isn't my sound". She's experimented with so many genres and sang so many things that weren't her sound here (including that Ed Sheeran duet and even the Megan Savage remix) so I wonder if she just changed her mindset or something.
StarstruckIllusion 52,363
That’s such a sick detail. In the end it works to make the song sound more unique and… I mean it just works. I wonder if Telephone part 2 will also be a genre blend of dance pop and (rock? country?) It’s why Darkchild is a legendary producer, he can blend two contrasting visions well, and do it in lighting fast time

PartySick 158,225
I think a lot of y'all are missing that the song's production was changed prior to the proper collab 💅Too cute to be this overworked and underf*cked💅

RaveMonster 77
1 hour ago, PartySick said: I think a lot of y'all are missing that the song's production was changed prior to the proper collab He only changed the production for her verse, the song always sounded the way the final version does that’s why the Britney Spears demo sounds very similar but not as polished, also in the video he mentions the beat sounds the same. And yet she tried to jumped on Ed's love song wave and did a collab in "Perfect", jumped on the spanish/latino rap wave, jumped on the country trap/rap wave, and so on and so forth. And yes - Gaga does collabs, Gaga does Jazz, Gaga does ballads, she also does acting. But at her versatility and talent allowed her to perform REALLY well on those various genres. Something most artists cannot do Edited 1 hour ago by FFXIV WhiteMage
