she was wearing a Buffalo Soldiers T-Shirt on her last show then photo of the back was posted on her website so everyone could read.
|a description on the back of the shirt contains the following text in its fifth paragraph:"Their antagonists were the enemies of peace, order and settlement: warring Indians, bandits, cattle thieves, murderous gunmen, bootleggers, trespassers, and Mexican revolutionaries."

I think shes just trying to give black people historical credit for contributing to American history, which makes sense for the "Cowboy Carter" era. But the problem is American history is racist and genocidal. There is no way shes anti Natives, but she should give an apology.

It's a shirt acknowledging yet another part of the building of America Black people were instrumentally a part of but the country doesn't like to acknowledge. Same thing she's been doing from the start of this project. 

Are we also pissed at Bob Marley now for his song about the same group?

I'm not here for defending or propping up the American military past or present no matter who is doing it, but I'm also not gonna rip any hair out over this. 

But this is ggd so ofc y'all are gonna take any opportunity to act like she's the devil.

I think she's just poorly informed - that being said you cannot claim to be a leading public artist when you don't have the intellectual investment in what you preach. This entire era feels like a very performative response to the MAGA madness going on and it's exactly why her international fans (me included) don't give a damn about it. Lemonade had the right tone and cadence. "Black people are also (and better) patriots throughout US history" is not a very good point to raise when American patriotism, as in any nationalist ideology, involves embracing crimes against humanity and wrapping it up in a fancy star-spangled package.

Honestly I think she didn't read it. Like lets not forget, Beyonce has creole heritage - people going to the extreme and calling her anti-indigenous are overdoing it. 

The shirt fully fits the aesthetic and branding of the Cowboy Carter era and that was probably about as much effort as was put into it. I think, like the Sabrina Carpenter album cover, its one of those moments where they've ****ed the landing. 

What I think we should be criticising is the responses to people posting this and criticising it - the amount of folksactively engaging in racism to defend Beyoncé is the real issue here.

Like I get what CC is trying to do - but I feel like it's just not landing. Same as Born in the USA etc. It's just too easy for folks on the right in America to completely weaponise patriotism so that any reference to it is absorbed into their world even if it tries to rally against it.
