I know it's buried underground but it'll still be released through whatever opening leads there, and are workers there exposed to it? I don't know the specifics of how nuclear power works and how its dangers can be mitigated. I know weapons can be dismantled but are the weapons themselves actually being attacked? I just think it all sounds terrifying. I remember when Iran was first talking about its nuclear program's hopes way back in 2010 and its leader was making almost jokey remarks about using it one day and it genuinely frightened me. But then I just forgot about it and obviously moved on. Now it's come back writ large and the fear has kicked up again. I never thought years ago that I'd be living in a world where there was a genuine chance that nuclear weapons could be used.
