So unnecessary and also kind of gross. A black woman won it once so they needed to change the rules? Like for real? They could have just kept it "Best Country Album", it was unlikely another Cowboy Carter was going to pop up. It feels like such a waste of time and energy to do this.

If morgan is nominated for traditional country, it will be a joke

A black woman won one award and they had to create a whole new category. Racists are such losers.

Grammys don't like him. he was only nominated as featured artist on Post Malone song.

I'm not from US but based on what i've read, isn't that traditional country music?

noooo, country used to be working-class and multicultural. It's only post 9/11 that it got taken over by super racist and conservative stuff. But the grammy's will surely be rewarding this style of country as "Traditional."

Yeah, whilst I think Cowboy Carter could be categorised as a country album, I wouldn't do so, for the same reason I wouldn't call ARTPOP an EDM album or folklore a folk album. They're all just pop albums inspired by and intermixed with their respective genres.

It also feels odd to listen back to Fearless and Speak Now and think about the fact that they were considered country enough to be nominated in country categories. Those were also just pop records with strong country influence. It makes sense to have a separate category for what may be considered country now, but is not the traditional basis of the genre.

It's about time! Country music doesn't even sound like country music anymore.

It’s still very much country and sonically cannot be said otherwise..

Outlaw country acts like Willie Nelson were/still aren't.
And hell country music's traditional roots come from southern black music.
