The film is written and directed by Oscar winner Bill Condon, known for Dreamgirls and Chicago

Well... this adapts the stage muscial, not the novel like the film does (also the '85 film changes the setting). And from what I've heard they removed every musical number that isn't a part of Molina's fantasies
