I'm not sure if cisgender men regularly undergo breast cancer screenings. For trans men, I suppose it depends on what surgeries the person may have undergone, but obviously trans men can get breast cancer too. I'm not sure what statistics are like for trans women. For cisgender women who are high risk or above 40, every year we hold our breaths as we go in for our mammograms, hoping everything will be okay, then we wait, wait, and wait for hopefully good results. Sometimes we get a call for additional imaging and spend weeks fearing the worst. Same when we go to our gynecologists for our annuals and they perform a breast exam, or when we do our own breast exams and feel something off - is it a lump, or just normal tissue? Some of us are prescribed medications that can increase the risk of breast cancer and have to weigh our risks of whether it's worth it. Some of us have people in our family we've lost to breast cancer and wonder when and if it's coming for us. I don't know if cisgender men have yearly mammograms or such worries. Maybe some do. Anyway, I never said men don't get breast cancer, but rather that it's something that cisgender women live in fear of. Maybe men have this fear too; I'm not qualified to make such a statement. The only correct part of this is the last sentence.
Phaye Monster 8,719
Oh bless her. What awful news. And she’s been through a lot with health issues I wish her a fast recovery and lots of support from fans, friends and loved ones. Hopefully catching it early makes a difference. She’s very strong and I believe she can make it through this, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be difficult. I'm an ARTPOP bitch, baby

Breast cancer has the ability to wreck families as a whole, it’s not just the patient who is affected by the cancer. Safe to say cancer is detrimental to both males and females without making it a thing about gender I made some random friends last weekend and they talked about their father’s ordeal with breast cancer. The guy is a former Chelsea footballer, regular English straight man. So Indeed, they exist in both genders. We can’t just ignore that 1% even if it’s a rare case.
Lucas 26,114
I hope she kicks cancer's butt fast! I think cancer is the thing that scares me the most in life, this disease is so ****ing unpredictable that I wouldn't be able to function anymore. It can be agressive or not It can spread or not The treatment can work or not Depending of the structure of the cancerous cells, some treatments work and some don't The structure of the cancerous cells can change and offer more or less treatments options With surgeries it's not always 100% sure that all the cancerous cells/tissue has been removed There are people who heal and go get the same cancer back a while after... Like it's absolute hell to predict. I remember Shannen Doherty said she finally gained hope to heal from cancer because the structure of her cancerous cells changed offering her more options of treatments, but a few days later she passed away... just after having hope again Edited Wednesday at 05:24 PM by Lucas
