The noma noma yay song from O-Zone was a 2000s staple Geographically, the Balkans are understood to mean the region between the Mediteranean, Adriatic and Black Sea and in a strict sense do not include anything north of the Danube. The cultural definition is more detatable as most definition include Romania and even Hungary in the Balkans due to shared history and cultural similarities. But the Republic of Moldova is Romanian, so if Romania counts as culturally Balkan, so does Moldova! Also, the song was released after the group had already move to Bucharest, Romania.
